V8 Attract Modes

I am upgrading from v7 an d found they are alot of new atract modes.  I need help understanding them.  Start when nothing is playing" is staright foward but do not start whhen user media is playing" what is the diference?  And what does it start?  And the last dumb question I need answered is what is cycle now playing screen?  I ask b/c i'v been fooling with this for a while now and haven't seen the screen change at all.  Where do i set the time inervals for this?
