Just it seems like there are a lot of request posts and not as many I'll try and make it posts. I obviously did something really wrong with the graphics engine because not many people want to make skins.

i suppose if i could get the hang of creating my own buttons
would be a major start using the default skin
i think some people have got it and others havent

To be fair making the buttons/graphics is key. Assembling it in the skintool can easilly be achieved by most of us on here.

If you can produce screens as you want them to look in BMP format they can be chopped up and made into a skin.

The way i got used to using photoshop is google, if i ever need to do something in photoshop, its google. (partly google, the rest is imagination) look at my yellow and red skin, my first ever and i only made it to get used to using P/S and the skintool. There are loads of tutorials on the internet regarding photoshop and theres loadsa help on here regarding the skin tool, so give it a go john, you got nothing to loose.

You might do better using GIMP as it's free to download and you can do the same as you can with photoshop. It also has tutorials if you google them.

Make sure you save images as BMP as the compression of JPG's messes up the transparency. BMP files or GIF files with a transparent background work best for buttons. Likewise if you are making a complete screen mock up if it's a BMP then the buttons can be cut out and placed easilly.

It will make the unzipped skin larger but the quality will be better.

Swapping the buttons over between skins will work as long as you name them the same as they are in the destination skin.
