Hi Guys,

I'm just wondering if any of you have any tips on how you are listing your music videos. At the moment I am experimenting with the following method :

1) MP3 Gain and MP3 Tag

2) Directory : Little Mix - Black Magic (artist - song title)

3) MP3 Tag : Title, Artist, Album Artist, Album (using song title for album), genre

I have put the song title into the album field so that it shows on the main listing page.

I am tempted to put all the music videos into one folder for an artists say One Direction (cries I cant believe they have split) 7 music videos.

I want to run a triple system in the end, 1) MP3's & Videos 2) MP3's only 3) Videos only

While I am at it a thought for Barry have you thought about encompassing movies into this as well? I know people use movie software to run movies, but it might be an a nice optional feature as well.

**** Bug Report ****

I have tagged my music videos and clicked on generate library again to have it so that the updated information would go on, but it loses information such as artist information. It is not reading tags properly for music videos v9.15
I am now retired from the jukebox scene. I still visit from time to time and will help if I can, but apart from that. I am no longer a slave to downloading and tagging.

You have to use the E-Touch Non mp3 tagger for videos.

Just had a look at that is there any chance in future versions being able to use a tagger such as you do with MP3s? MP3 Tag is so much easier and faster to use. It would also mean that you don't have to edit as many files

I have at the moment

One Direction - Drag Me Down

Yet the artists is Drag Me Down and the Song is One Direction

I have just used that non mp3 tagger but when I generate the database it is still losing information. The more I uncheck the less it is finding and that is after using non mp3 tagger.

Due to the amount of file types supported the non mp3 tagger was the only real way forward. It does work fine, I have never heard of anyone having an issue with it.

You have now lol I am saying this now in the view of helping. You are creating a software package and then creating smaller extra programs to do what people are asking it to do. I have a directory called C:\TEST Video Jukebox there are 3 music videos in there, yes 3.

However I am having a massive problem regarding 3 music videos and yet I can import hundreds or indeed thousands of music videos into other software and no problems at all.

Creating sub programs that only suit one program is not the way to go as I want to simply import the videos that I have imported into X Y and Z program without any trouble.

I have ticked to play music videos at full screen if single monitor however this does not work, Jukebox John is having problems with a second monitor.

The main problems should be sorted before trying to create sub programs that still don't work 100%.

I just deleted the error log and loaded up the software to play one music video and I have an error

#2015-08-29 12:34:21#,"35600","Index out of bounds","Form1","Form_Load","E-Touch v9.0.15","Mark Norville","HOME-CINEMA"

Should be no errors when just playing one song.

A lot of people will now use third party software for tagging etc so really these sub programs are not 100% needed.

Mark

*** Update ***

I have had a further play around with the non mp3 tagger even using %1 %2 etc doesn't put fields into the correct place. I am still having a play but as I see it with changing a file name around

It just doesn't work at all it does not matter how I change my files something messes up, I have experimented with the following

Black Magic (Song) - Little Mix (artist)
Little Mix - Black Magic
Song Title - Artist - 2015 - Pop

I could probably mess around and keep changing file names as the %1 %2 does not work properly but you cannot use that long a name for Windows XP and even windows 7 doesn't like too long a file names.

You would have the longest file name in the World just to get something to work e.g 01 - This artist is called puff daddy and bee bop - the song is called such a long song name - release date 2015 - genre pop

The file structure would not like it at all.

Yes there should be no errors, and yes I probably am wasting my time creating 3rd party apps.

I am playing around with non tagger in the etouch folder with not much joy at the moment it still misses the artist information.

I noticed that when you use non mp3 tagger it can create a tag file such as

One Direction - Drag Me Down.mp4.tag

I have this

<NonMP3Tag>
   <Artist>One Direction</Artist>
   <Title>Drag Me Down</Title>
   <Album></Album>
   <Band>One Direction</Band>
   <Track></Track>
   <Year>2015</Year>
   <Genre>Pop Music</Genre>
   <CommentTitle></CommentTitle>
   <CommentText></CommentText>
   <Seconds></Seconds>
   <Duration>03:12</Duration>
</NonMP3Tag>

Yet when I try loading it into the library it is not reading the tag file and does not show the artist name it only lists the following

Artist = Blank, Album = Song Title, Path = directory, Added Date = Date, Genre = Pop Music, Year = 2015, Compliation = 0, Record Number = Blank

Please confirm that this is a bug rather than me doing something wrong, pretty please lol

Mark

*** Update ***

When I click on generate library it says 1 file found now building database, click on ok, then it says that no media files found.

I too am having trouble with adding media, trying to add 5 folders on my laptop for testin and When I click on generate library it says 1 file found now building database, click on ok, then it says that no media files found. When I try to open etouch I get told to generate media library.
Dear God, Please bring back Bob Marley, In return you can have Justin Bieber. Amen

Mark Norville

That is weird then Glen as although mine says that and does not import tag names for artist, I still have a file showing when I load up eTouch. The only thing that I don't have is the name displayed where the cover is, but when I click to play that music video, it will display the artist and track name on select or reject screen.

P.S To Barry, sorry I wasn't having a go regarding your sub programs but it just makes more sense to knock these on the head and allow people to use more mainstream specialised programs such as MP3 Tag and allowing NFO files to be used as a lot of people will use say for example XBMC/Kodi so will have NFO files created for music, videos etc. Another factor is time and energy as if you spend 10 hours for example on a sub program and that doesn't work or has bugs, it means more time trying to correct that problem. The 10 hours spent writing a sub program and ensuring it is compatible in the future detracts from the actual main program itself.

This is the nfo file for a music video in kodi

<musicvideo>
        <title>Bestsongintheworld</title>
        <artist>Bestartistintheworld</artist>
        <album>Me</album>
        <genre>Pop</genre>
        <runtime>3:20</runtime>
        <plot>Scantly clad women hoing about</plot>
        <year>2000</year>
        <director>and I</director>
        <studio>Ego prod.</studio>
        <track>1</track>
    </musicvideo>

So pretty much it is close to your non mp3 tagger but it is very easy to create an NFO using MP3 Tag and then exporting to a file.

Not sure I completely understand your problem.

My music videos are sorted by artist i.e. I have a folder for each artist then within that folder the avi/mkv/mp4 files with their respective .tag files and a cover.jpg which is basically an image of the artist.

As for config, like you set audio to look in C:\Users\name\Music I have set video to look in the new folder C:\Users\name\Music Videos.

So for example within my Music Videos directory I have a folder named Bruno Mars, within that folder I have the following files:
02 - Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven.avi
02 - Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven.avi.tag
13  Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man.avi
13  Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man.avi.tag
Cover.jpg
Coversmall.jpg

The contents of the tag files are as follows:

<NonMP3Tag>
   <Artist>Bruno Mars</Artist>
   <Title>Locked Out Of Heaven</Title>
   <Album></Album>
   <Band></Band>
   <Track>02</Track>
   <Year></Year>
   <Genre></Genre>
   <CommentTitle></CommentTitle>
   <CommentText></CommentText>
   <Seconds></Seconds>
   <Duration>3:54</Duration>
</NonMP3Tag>

And

<NonMP3Tag>
   <Artist>Bruno Mars</Artist>
   <Title>When I Was Your Man</Title>
   <Album></Album>
   <Band></Band>
   <Track></Track>
   <Year></Year>
   <Genre></Genre>
   <CommentTitle></CommentTitle>
   <CommentText></CommentText>
   <Seconds></Seconds>
   <Duration></Duration>
</NonMP3Tag>

Lot's of info missing I know, but this is how it looks in etouch

Mark Norville

Here is mine as you can see the artist name is missing but song title is showing. I have the artist name in the tag file as well. Yet when I go to the selection screen because it is one track only then the artist name will display.

I am wanting to run it as a video jukebox which is a lot easier, just download lastest videos each week and bob is your auntie a lot faster than MP3's.

Just a thought, you are running the non mp3 tagger as admin like all the other apps?

I run outside of program files, and I never run as admin on anything and if you have a tag file it should read that regardless. I shall give it a try in admin mode but I cannot see it making a difference.

No still the same problems even running as admin, I even ran config 9 as admin and still not populating the fields with artist name.

Running as Admin allows it to create the .tag files in the same folder as the media.
