Title: Getting Error Skintool
Post by: Risim on August 15, 2014, 08:55:09 PM
I'm trying to customize some things on touchgeni 9.0 but I get an error while loading skintool.  It only occurs with this skin.  Any Ideas.

Click the button then enter the new values, you have to click the button first.

Daaa.... :- :P.  I am doing that but the value is not being saved.   Let say the width is 100 and I click the button and change it to 150 button flickers but doesn't change.  And if I click it again the width is back to 100, wierd right.  Any ideas? :beer

Might be a bug but you are using the V8 skintool so I wouldn't know. I really need to try and get the V9 skintool fixed up, it's just that is the most tedious work in the world swapping out the controls and it actually is a lot of work but no one really sees the end product apart from it works I guess.

I disagree B, the end product provides the skin builders a stable environment to develop new skins which keeps current users and attracts new users. Imagine if you had to do the software work and then build the skins too. Keep up the good work and always know there are many who appreciate the long hours and hard work you have put into the project.

I would love to start play with the skin tool but the last time I tried I failed miserable  :-[

Cheers bro

Skining is what keeps etouch modern.  But I can u nderstand about the work you need to put into it.  I have been alterin b this skin for e 3 days now and only half way there. But it worth it at the end.

The skintool is where my focus is at now for the next couple of days to try and get that swapped over to PNG. It's actually more work doing that than it was for the main app.

Cool, give me something stable to work in and I'll give skinning another go.I really would like to see a simple skin with the capability to turn off all the whistles n bells allowing a simple jukebox interface.
While the younger folks love using every inch of a screen for functionality, it's a bit overwhelming for old dogs like me. ;)

I would live to see the black and blue series updated and made widescreen. I'm still using it, even with all it's problems with the new versions. I agree. I like that you can do all the flashy stuff with the skin, but a nice, basic, non busy widescreen skin is what is missing right now.

That was always the plan with it, it will be even more simplified once it is all PNG as a lot of the options for the buttons will be removed such as style and gradient. I have managed to get the request screen changed over today.

I finished my skin today or atleast the pages I use.  Now to upgrade it v9 I have to change the ini's to png instead of gif, right.

You need the image set up properly. The spacing for the slider is calculated in the software based on the length of the scroll bar.

ok so if put 5 spaces between each letter it would the same as puttinv only 1 space, right.

It should be as it it just divides the length into 26 sections.

It is a tool tip, I need it so I know what each grey box is i see in VB. For the final V9 I might have a way of removing that but actually loading in default images for the grey boxes like i have done in the skintool. On a touchscreen it shouldn't show up...

Love the slider it really is responding the way it should. Veryfast sliding action with the png slider.  :beer

maybe the slight alignment issue is because it should be divide by 27 (26letters and #).

well it might be 25 as there are 27 but start is 0 and end is end.

You might like the serenity skin ive made, thats a really simple UI, Ive stopped working on it for now as im waiting for the skin tool to be full png supporting before i carry on, its futuristic looking with glass buttons, im using it on my juke at the moment, its nowhere near finished but it has what i use, album page, song select page, add to queue page, queue page, one day ill get round to finishing it and releasing it.

That sounds good, Glenn.  How about a screencap to see what it looks like?  And is it widescreen?
