Over a wired network i have never had any issues. I assume you are looking at putting you media on a different machine and accessing it over a network connection. I have seen speed issues with wireless but wired has been fine. I used 100mb connection i cannot vouch for 10mb.

would prefure a wireless network but wired is not impossible just alot more work involved
do you know what these usb to lan converters are like

I have never used them, I just go with lan cards. For drives i would just get a NAS which will have an ethernet socket on it. Why did you want to do this rather than use a USB drive, just curious.

toying with the idea of doing another wall unit in my front room so which ever
jukebox i use the album collection is the same
also i dont seem to keep my jukeboxes when somebody shows me cash i let
them go and after rebuild the collection again so if ive got it stored in my
network its alot better for me when i do another project

Might want to try Wireless N, as I am streaming video to my Media PC and it seems to work very well.

I never seem to have any luck with N, i have a netgear usb N wireless card and my internet wasn't even usable to the point i had to go with a cable. It's probably me, i think there is a lot of interference.

might be worth a try
its all going to be trial and plenty of error
might be worth trying it on my laptop and see what etouch
is happy with if it ends up cabled so be it

When I ran G and N there was a bit of a lag between loading of screens and songs.

If Freebox had a method of Caching the album images or something it would probably run a bit better on a wireless network, but I honestly noticed a lag. That's why I'm still loading my tunes on the local hard drive or over a wired network.

Ive read that if you are using a N wireless router, and have one of those 2.4 Ghz cordless phones in the house, the phone will interfere with the routers signal. Usually the router is using channel 11 out of the box - if you change it to 1, the problem disappears. (Ive had to do this myself last month when i bought my new router)

It should have a default IP address, put that in your browser and it might bring up a config page where you can set it to DHCP so it will get the IP from your router. You can also set the network name.

Sounds like a permissions thing, what permissions do you have set? As it's your own network you should just set it to full cotnrol.
