Thanks for Banning him Barry, but if he's using an internet cafe or hotel connection, it might be hard to ban his ISP as they change the ISP number several times a week!
I have a couple websites (HOA's for older folks in OHIO) that have forums and I just blocked the whole country of Denmark because of the gazillion ISP changes they have weekly and all the forum spam they put on there. The Netherlands is the same way but on 2 of my forums, I have people from the Netherland that are legit and I have to monitor them like a hawk! I know I have over 100,000 banned ISP's in the Netherlands blocked.

Heck I banned all of .cn thats china for those of you who don't know. ;) I was getting 10 to 15 joins a week with rambling and now when I check my logs I still get a lot of their traffic, but still banned.
To be honest normally a ban works on the username and email addy for the small amount of spam we have had recently. Hopefully I will be able to upgrade to the newer SMF and spam will drop off for a while.
Heck I didn't even believe you when you told me to switch from phpBB to SMF that spam would drop. It droped HUGE. I get them now and then, but its normally china and a few other random hosts.
I've been avoiding upgrading to the newer 2.0 releases only because I have things right where I want them and honestly I know I'd break things. ;)
I'm with you on this which is why i have not installed any mods on this. I think if i back up the upgrade shouldn't be a huge a problem... V2 isn't final yet is it?
