Title: Default skin
Post by: ahurle on April 04, 2017, 10:06:43 AM
Hi,
I'm new at Etouch. I have a touch screen and changed the skin, accidentally choosing the wrong resolution size. I now cannot access the settings to change the skin back as the info is not on the screen.
I hooked up a widescreen monitor (not touch screen) and used the mouse to navigate but the "hide mouse" is checked so it disappears and I can't use it.
I also tried changing the screen resolution size in Windows, but it doesn't have the screen size I need Windows XP).
Is there somewhere in Etouch config or somewhere else where I can tell it what skin to start up with.
Thanks.
Adam.

Hi Adam,

If you have a large monitor and can see the skin you do not want

1) Goto options (esc)
2) Select the skin that you do want
3) Save the skin

I think if you delete the skin you are stuck on, it might possibly switch to the other, but please do not hold me on that one.

Sadly there are no instructions for installation

1 - Right click install file and run as administrator
2 - Install program outside of c:\Program Files (c:\Jukebox example)
3 - Run all programs as admin

Someone is here all day if you need further help

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark. Unfortunately I can't select the skin I want as the option "hide mouse" is checked so I can't use the mouse on the large monitor where I can see the options.
I did try and delete the skin but it didn't work. It's still there and I'm stuck on it.
Hopefully someone has a solution.

Ok so you hide mouse previously and now cannot see the mouse pointer.

I know there is a way to sort this out, but it has not been asked for ages. hang fire will look for you now.

Bloody typical, just hidden my mouse and locked out now :(

Rename the folder of the skin you selected and relaunch e-touch.

That doesn't work Barry, it still hides the mouse.

I think there was a switch you put in ages ago, config9 /q or something like that?

Hi Barcrest. I have deleted the folder. Should I put those files back to the original folder, rename and then relaunch e-touch?

Ignore the Boss,

Try this instead

1) Click on start menu (windows)
2) in the search box type CMD and press enter
3) Navigate to your etouch directory
4) Type in etouch10.exe /I

This will now restore your options.

God am I good.

If the skin isn't found it should default back to the default skin. But yes /I will load up with all the defaults, you will have to set everything up again. Of course you could also go into the registry and change the default skin there to retain your other settings.

Hi Mark. I'm sorry, I can't see your YouTube clip, it too small to see what you're typing so I'm not sure what I should be typing in CMD.

I'm lost at step 2. I'm not really any good with computers. Is the etouch directory where the .exe file is saved?

Bare with me, I shall try and make it fool proof for you

Ok this is so idiot proof that even forest gump can follow

1) Load up notepad or any text editor.

2) Type in etouch10.exe /i

3) Save file choose typ

Ok just ignore that

I have done the work for you, download this file attachment, copy it into your etouch directory.

Unzip the file and it will be a batch file

Just double click that and it will run etouch and clear the settings.

The file is 100% safe, no viruses, and I only format people's PC's that I don't like lol

Regards

Mark

P.S when you get into etouch, make sure you save settings otherwise it will keep hiding the mouse.

Ok. I'm using my phone to type so will go to computer and save file.
So do I just save that to the folder which is in Program Files\E-Touch Jukebox 8

Ok firstly how have you got version 8 if you are a newbie? The current version is 10

Secondly, etouch should never be installed in program files, because it can throw up errors.

I would deinstall and remove from program files and then reinstall it outside of c:\program files

If Barry reads this, just a memo to him, it might be worth having something on the splash screen not to install it into that directory and to run as admin, or indeed put something on the website or forum.

Ok do you have the installation file on the computer, or has it been installed and then removed? If you still have the software then you can reinstall.

If you don't have the software, then you will run into problems every now and again with it being in program files.

Still use the file that I attached just so that you can clear the settings and then start using the mouse again and sort out the skins.

Yes, it appears the set up file is sitting on the Desktop.
Should I just reinstall it? Will I need a license key?

Yes that would be a lot better.

Deinstall etouch

run the set up as administrator
install on c:\ for example, either keep the etouch folder, or I call mine c:\jukebox but up to you what you want to call it

Have emailed you now, I would remove your email address from the post though, just incase you get spam harvesters take your email addy

I have sent the bat file and also it zipped just incase.

I just had two emails bounce back from your email addy

Your message wasn't delivered because the destination email system rejected your message for security or policy reasons. For example, the email address might only accept messages from certain senders, or it might not accept certain types of messages, like those larger than a specific size.

Contact the recipient (by phone, for example) and work with them and their email admin to determine what policy or setting blocked your message and what you should do to make sure that future messages from you won't be rejected.

For more information, see Status code 5.7.1.

smtp4.gate.ord1c.rsapps.net gave this error:
Virus found (G4)

Looks like you cannot get files.

However it is very easy to do, follow these steps

1) Create a text file
2) Copy and paste this text - etouch10.exe /i
3) Save file but click other files and call it etouch.bat or something .bat
4) Put into the etouch directory and run

Hopefully you can do this?

I managed to save the file you uploaded. When you say out it in the Etouch directory, I presume you mean put it in the folder where all the other Etouch files are?

I did that. It brought up the black cmd screen then computer freezes every time and I can't do anything.
Would I be better off uninstalling then reinstalling? I just don't want to lose it all together as I'm not sure the key I have will work.

Yeah it just clicked

I had it for etouch10 you need to edit the file so that it says etouch8.exe /i

will do that now for you

The only problem now is because version 8 is an old version the /i might not work, but give it a try anyway

I just ran it. It says E-Touch Splash disabled, Commercial users do not see this message.
It still doesn't appear that I can use the mouse tho.

Not to be that guy, but unless you have a licence for this software then you're going to have a bad time. Whoever you bought it from should either have un-installed the product OR transferred the licence details to you OR bought a licence in your name. If you don't have any of that, you're running pirated software

Note: Uninstalling it would require you to add licence details, unless they're stored somewhere and remember it.

Hopefully, you will like the software and decide to update to version 10, it is $35 so dirt cheap compared to some.

You will find more skins for version 10 than 8, and less bugs. Version 10 gone a long way from previous versions.

Also the fact that 10 you can use online functions, which for example you want to listen to Pet Shop Boys for example, but you do not have it in your library, the online function will allow you to play songs from Youttube.

So a lot of reasons for an upgrade, and more support as well, if we are on version 9 or above, we cannot roll back to 8 just to advise you on those bugs.

On a more legal note, though, I do not think that licenses can be transferred. I think that you need the software developers permission for that, the person who sold you the machine, might still be using the software on another PC. Which thus would make it piracy.

It would be up to Barry to decide really as to what would happen, if he feels that you are a now genuine user, then your forum status should get upgraded. However, if not then you will probably stay a newbie until an upgrade.

Regards

Mark

Marks suggestion will work but you will end up with the default settings and as such will have to set everything up. If you search on the registry for E-Touch you will find the entry for the default skin there.
