Title: Emp800 coin selector compatable?
Post by: ScAtMaN on September 25, 2008, 09:15:13 PM
Hi There

Is WH Berlin's EMP 800 electronic coin selector http://www.whberlin.de/neu/inhalt_e/index_e.html (http://www.whberlin.de/neu/inhalt_e/index_e.html)compatible with Freebox's credit system?
It's the USB version using CCtalk interface.

If so is there anything special I need to do to set it up?

Cheers,
Steve

You need the coin acceptor to be able to send keystorkes to the computer. If that one does then it'll work.

Me again!
I am currently talking to the author of a utility that works with an EMP800 coin mech to send credit information to Silverjuke by DDE messages. (silverjuke is great but not as good as freebox at emulating a pub jukebox on a small touch screen) Anyway he says he can adapt the software to send key stokes instead.

I will let you know how I get on, perhaps in the future we can see native support for these coin mechs in Freebox.

Well I now have this working with my emp800 USB Coin validator with the help of Reto over at Amsaro http://www.amsaro.ch/_english_HP/default.htm (http://www.amsaro.ch/_english_HP/default.htm) who has adapted the software he wrote for silverjuke to send key strokes instead.
If anyone else has a need he can be contacted on the link above
(I will probably post this information in the FAQ as well for future reference)
Ta 8).

He does not sell the coin mechs himself, I got them from a company called Willings:
http://www.willings.co.uk/ (http://www.willings.co.uk/)

It was around £60 I think.
