Title: How clean are your tags?
Post by: ScAtMaN on December 07, 2008, 08:55:38 PM
So I am currently going through all my files (this will be the third and I hope final sweep) to eliminate the last batch of garbage that I suspect causes me to still get the odd crash in Freebox (Usually runbtime 52 file error).

I read on the Links forum that Squirrelly used a program, Mp3tag to remove , and " from his tags.
I can understand not wanting them in the filename (though windows will allow it) but do they really cause disruption to freebox if they are in the tags?

What about other characters like ' and ! and ?

Am I just making more work for myself or could these make a real difference?

Welp I've gone through every file all 1470+ albums or so and I know every one has the
Artist
Album
Genre
Year
Title
And nothing else. None of mine have any symbols well except for (, ), ? and maybe -.

All my albums have 500x500 covers and are normalized

They are not added to the collection until they are checked

Ok what about in the actual filenames?
I have a few with ' and [ ] in them ie:
brother's [remix].mp3

Does freebox have a problem with such files?

There shouldn't be an issue with the filenames.
