Title: FLV Support
Post by: netcat on December 26, 2008, 03:03:16 AM
I would like to use FLV (Flash files) within Freebox

there is a plugin called playFLV that allows Windows MEdia PLayer to play these files, it is my on does understanding Freebox will function with any file compatible with Windows Media Player. but the Beta tagger applicatication does not seem to recognize/Tag these files of extension FLV

anyone else done this ? my main reasoning is the files are tiny in comparison to their MPG counterparts.

I normally just convert these to MPG files.

dude.... what kind of answer is that?

we both know Freebox is perfectly capable uf playing any file that Windows Media Player is capable of playing.

and FLV file is at some times hundreds of times smaller than an MPG.

it makes all the sense in the world. to support them.

this would be akin to saying (Just convert your cdg s into MPGs)

I am by no means saying you MUST support them, I am just wondering why the tagger is not seeing them.

Problem is i don't have the source code for the tagger. It needs me to recode the tagger from scratch to add support for more extensions. Post up the list of extensions you want and i will look at supporting them. It is a big job though because it does involve changes to the config, the main app and more importantly me coding the tagger again from scratch.

better idea.

how bout you make the list of extensions variable depending on the users needs, in this way they can add or remove from the list?

the FLASH extensions are typically FLV
