Title: problems
Post by: harry on January 03, 2009, 12:07:44 AM
Is there a list of software requirements or a comprehensive guide for Freebox? I ended up installing installing and registering a comdlg32.ocx file for the skin editor.

The guides included in the 4.0.19 release seems a bit out of date judging from the images in them.

Is the Freebox Config window not supposed to be resizable?

I have created a music folder for testing with one album in it. Basic layout is C:.../music/Aerosmith/Toys in the Attic/tracks. No album art in this case. I generated the library and the album shows up in the loaded album list. Am I supposed to be able to see which tracks are on the album from this window? If so, I can't seem to access them for editing.

If I click the the 'Get Album Cover' button at the bottom is it supposed to download an album cover from someplace on the intertubes?  I get nothing but a delayed click.

If I select 'Remove Album' it doesn't disappear from the loaded albums list until I close and restart Freebox Config.

In the Freebox player if I change the skin to 1024 x 768 it takes a good 20 seconds to change and when it finally does the bottom of the skin is cut off at the edge of the window and I can't then get at the lower buttons or power off button.

edit: running on xp pro sp3.

The 1024x768 skin needs to be full screen to work properly without the toolbar.

Also 20seconds sounds right if your hardware is a little dated, I've run freebox on P3's and it takes almost 1m to complete the skin change.

Well my hardware is a little dated. Dual Athlon mp 2600's, 2gb ram, geforce 7600 gs agp. Your explanation about the skin size and full screen seems reasonable.

Still. The program just does not seem right. I have a large library of cd's ripped to mp3's, pristinely ID3v2 tagged as humanly possible. I have been using these with my audiotron for years and have spent dozens of hours properly tagging them with easytag in linux.

When I generate a lib from even a small portion i end up with unamed entries in the free player view. No artist name or album name though the songs on the albums do show up if I select the blank entry.

No answers or suggestions regarding the questions in my original post? Anyone?

Thanks.

Harry

Sounds like you don't have ID3V2 tags even though you think you do. You can try and open one of the effected albums in tag and rename and see if the tag shows as V2 in there. There is a button you can click to copy the ID3V1 tag across so it shouldn't take long. Freebox did used to read ID3V1 tags so i need to look at why that stopped working, that may fix the issue.

Oi! You were correct about the tags. Good grief. :-[

freebox is working much better now. Thank you!
