Title: Pin #'s access Bug?
Post by: Pinball on February 12, 2009, 08:35:20 PM
When I go into options and check off Enable Pin Access, the codes for Admin Access and Delagate Access disappear as they should.

I only have the following buttons checked:

  Enable POWER OFF BUTTON
          Require PIN to Shutdown

  PIN (OPTIONS)

------------------------

I hit Save Settings and Backout to the Main Screen.

When I hit the OPTIONS button on the main screen, the Key Pad pops up and I enter the DELEGATE Pin #.

The SECURITY SCREEN appears with the left side all "Greyed-Out"

The Right side of the SECURITY SCREEN is accessable and shows the
PIN (OPTIONS) button checked.

The bottom of the SECURITY SCREEN displays only the SECURITY SETTINGS. SAVE SETTINGS and POWER OFF buttons.

As a DELEGATE, I now uncheck the PIN (OPTIONS) button.

I hit BACK to go out to the Main Screen.

Then I Press the OPTIONS button on the main screen, which takes me back into the SECURITY SCREEN and displays the Admin Access and Delagate Access pins.

As a Delegate I now POWER OFF.

Then I restart FREEBOX.

Once FREEBOX starts, I Hit the OPTIONS Button on the main screen, the Key Pad pops up and I enter the Admin Pin # that I discovered by unchecking the PIN (OPTIONS) button.

The SECURITY SCREEN appears with the left side all "Greyed-Out"

The entire SECURITY SCREEN is accessable.

The bottom of the SECURITY SCREEN displays all the BUTTONS for General Settings, Appearance and everything else.

So at this point the Delegate USER can operate the system as the Administrator.

This is not good.  Any suggestions?  Version 4.0.18

The only thing that I want the authorized Delagate user to do is to be able to invoke a normal shutdown of the Jukebox, without just Powering Off the switch.

Thanks.

Randy

I just tested this same scenario in 4.0.19 and it acts the same.

When you enter the options screen as a delegate, you have the option to turn off the Pin[Options] checkbox.  If you were to save and return to the Album Viewer and once again enter the options, you would see both the admin and delegate pin in plain view.

A delegate pin should not have access to change any of the checkboxes on the security settings (or access to the security settings page for that matter).  A delegate pin should have, or be able to have, the security settings button turned off like the other buttons.

I agree with Newman25.  I would suggest putting the Power Off button on the bottom right corner of the main album screen , and not on the Security page at all.  Power Down would trigger Pin Pad and initiate Shutdown if good Pin Code gets entered.

Thanks.

I'm Still running version 4.0.19.  Was this issue resolved for the Version 5 software releases?  So the Delagates don't see the Master Key...

Thanks,

Randy
