Title: Random Play (Bug)
Post by: newman25 on March 17, 2009, 01:34:12 AM
I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right area or not given the version but here it goes....If it isn't can an admin move it to the proper area?

Version: 5.00.1

Random play does not select from the list of pre-selected artists.  It seems to randomize from all artist in the catalog.  This worked fine in 4.0.19.

I also notice that there is a noticeable delay now inbetween tracks.  Not a huge deal but it is very noticeable since the artwork and tracks go to the defaults images until the next track and artwork load.

The delay is because you have a value set as a delay time set that to 0 and it will skip through properly. If you want it to only play from the selected artists you need to take the tick out of audio. If you have a tick in audio it will play from all the audio. In V4 the random play didn't work correctly it now does and will pick from wherever you have a tick.... So don't put a tick in Audio, Karaoke or Video unless you want it to pick from those databases.

Ah, makes sense.  I will give it a shot today and check it out.

Thanks!
Brian

UPDATE:  Worked just as you described.  Thanks for the quick response.

I think what is causing the confusion, is when I am choosing a Genre, Artist or Year, I "thought" I needed to check Audio (so it would use the Audio database) then choose what I want to Random play from that database (Genre, Artist or Year). So how would I randomly play just Videos of a Genre, Artist or Year without using the Video checkbox to just use the Video database? Probably what would need to be done is have the checkboxes for Audio, Video and Karaoke and when each is checked, the available Genres, Artists and Years show up in the choices below just for that database (So only one database can be chosen at one time). And if Audio, Video or Karaoke is checked and nothing is put in the Artist, Genre or Year boxes, then all files in that database play randomly.

That is how I originally thought I was supposed to configure it but now that I know I'm good with the way it is now as I don't plan on using it for video or karaoke.

I just have mine set to random play videos. I pretty much only use videos on mine as i like something to watch while i'm listening. For St Patricks day i did have irish selected as well so it was a mix of videos and irish songs which is how i have it at christmas, with christmas tunes instead of irish obviously.
