I have my mp3 library on my external hard drive attached to my laptop and the other copy on another hard drive on the network (my jukebox)
I want something that syncs tag's. When i find tags which are wrong, i want to edit them on the external which then either copies the mp3 or just the tag info (dont care) to the other hard drive
anyone got any ideas?
I have a similar set-up and use a program called Second Copy: http://www.secondcopy.com/ (http://www.secondcopy.com/).
It takes awhile to run the first time but it will set what is called an "Archive Bit" to each file on your external drive when it copies to your network (jukebox) drive. So the first time it will need to copy everything over to your network again. After that if any file changes the archive bit then clears and the next to you run the Second Copy program it will only copy those files that don't have the "Archive Bit" set, which will be any new files and any changed files.
There are a ton of options you can setup with this program also, including automated day and time settings to run these updates (in your case though it sounds like you will do this manually since you aren't always connected).
(This program is also very handy outside of E-Touch Jukebox for making sure you always have current backups of all your data. You can setup multiple backup actions with different settings on each.)
I use a similiar free product:
