Title: Karaoke microphone
Post by: jacktucky on September 20, 2009, 08:47:28 PM
I've been searching and reading about the microphone in not being the way to go.  I'm trying to at least get it to work before I purchase an external amp.  I have the enable mic in on video playback checked, but I still hear nothing.    I can hear my microphone during testing in windows control panel.

Is there anymore info about this?

Personally I would just use a seperate amp and mixer, PC mics just sound awful. If the mic is working normally in windows it should work however. You need to check that it isn't working, you might not hear your voice out of the speakers but that doesn't mean it's not working.

It works in when I test it from Control Panel.  Loud as hell actually.  I'll look into a different amp.

Well if you are sure freebox is muting it i can take a look at the code but honestly a cheap karaoke mixed amp would give better sound. Just run the PC through that as well and you only need one amp for your jukebox.

I'm not sure freebox is muting it, only that it doesn't work ;D

I've never used Karaoke in Freebox/E-Touch before so I was just playing around.  If I was able to get it to work I could see if my kids liked it before I purchased an amp.  I saw Amps around $100-$125 so it's not a big deal.  I have some DJ equipment lying around that I could use to mix the mic and PC output but no echo control.

I don't use ECHO even when hosting karaoke in bars. I have it on my mixing desk but i never enable it, you wouldn't have it using PC mics either.
