Any way to make the fanart tied to the album instead of the artist?
For example, I have two AC/DC albums - one with Bon Scott, and one with Brian Johnson. I like to use band lineup pics for fanart when possible, but I can only use one with both albums, unless I rename the artists ACDC1 and ACDC2. If the art was tied to the album name, then I could have multiple pics for the same artist.
Thoughts?
It's hard enough to find a single artist image for FanArt, let alone seperate images for different albums. Especially those of us who have hundreds of artists, and multiple albums for most this would not be very welcomed.
I don't see this being useful for most users and only causing headaches. In hundreds artists you'd probably only run across this a dozen times. In those cases if it was that important for you to have the actual band members (and can find a pic) I'd say you're best bet is renaming the artists like you suggested.
Yeah what he said... I do like the idea of having different images for say live albums etc.. It's just too much work to actually obtain the images so it will be left as is right now.
Why couldn't the fanart perform the following lookup in order?
1. Look for art called TrackArtist_TrackTitle.jpg (for artwork tied to a song)
2. If not found look for art called AlbumArtist_AlbumName.jpg (for artwork tied to an album)
3. If not found look for art called AlbumArtist.jpg (for artwork tied to an artist)
Apart from a few extra CPU cycles checking 1 & 2 the same option as current would still exist (thus not upsetting the existing fan base) yet allow modessit to get his desired effect.
*NB* Note I use AlbumArtist in the above example instead of TrackArtist. That's deliberate and is a preface to a hopefully-soon-to-be post where I attempt to plead the case to use AlbumArtist in certain places in preference to TrackArtist.
if i keep doing this then the whole app would grind to a halt there are loads of fudges like this to cater for one person or another and if it's not a popular choice i am steering clear due to the slowdown it would incure. Sorry dude.
