Title: networking
Post by: krjamk on September 04, 2010, 03:35:38 AM
I am trying to network two computers together and use the master/terminal. I have it set up to the point where I can use the terminal and can add songs to the queue on the master but nothing plays on the terminal. Will the songs only play on the master or should they play on both the terminal and master at the same time? I have read a few topics on this but didn't seem to be able to find a straight answer as to what exactly can be done on a terminal. Are there many features that don't work on the terminal? I have tried a few things and some seem to give a runtime error on the master. Just wanted to see what I needed to hide for buttons and what all worked.

thanks,

Terminal/Master set up is for situations where you want one central queue and the music played by one machine piped through as many speakers as you want. If you wanted the terminal to also produce music you would be better having them both set up as stand alone machines sharing the same library.

What runtime errors are you getting and on what machine i will try and help you out with that.

After looking I think I might use a fm modulator and receiver and to run the music near the terminal side. I want to set up a unit in the basement and upstairs and have it play the same music without having to run wires between the floors. I will have to try and work on the runtime error and see if I can recreate it. I think I was testing out some of the buttons on terminal and the error occurred on the master. What buttons don't work on the terminal? For example can you skip to the next song on from the terminal or choose play now on a song?

thanks for the info!!

You can't use the skip song functions from the terminal or set the volume but you should be able to use play now, play next and add to queue perfectly fine.
