Title: Rescale Skin - How To Do It Correctly?
Post by: wwwombat on February 08, 2011, 11:46:16 PM
Beats me how the skin rescale tool works. I'm taking the latest Black_and_Blue_Letters_GIF_V6.0.7(1600x900) to get all the latest whizz-bang features and trying to rescale it to 1024x768 so it fits onto my netbook (max resolution 1366 x 768).

I fire up skintool.exe and place 1024 and 768 into the X/Y boxes under "Rescale SKIN", tick the resize Backdrop Images and let it do its thing.

The background images seem to come out at differing sizes....1579x880, 1362x762 and some didn't get touched at all (and those that did look like they're a windowed top left portions of the original images).... I wondered if the resolution of the netbook was a problem so I did it on my home (1920x1080) PC but still got the same result.... so I rescale these images manually outside of the skintool. Exactly which ones should I resize? ... only the ones with the 1600 x dimensions? (page_search_choice is 1366x768 and null.jpg is 1448x801)

But still the skin looks vastly mangled...not needing just a slight adjustment here and there.

So

a) What am I doing wrong?

and

b) what's the correct way to go about bringing all "old" skins (I'm currently using Metal+V6.2_1024x768 on my netbook) up to the current executable capability? (i.e. add in potentially missing features introduced recently)

To add missing features you need the skin author to update the skin.
