Title: New Skin
Post by: Norman Marshall on November 14, 2012, 02:11:06 PM
Barry im developing a new skin, can you tell me what pages make up the album view? I've forgotten, Also, is it possible to have it so you swipe the album view page from left to right and vise versa? Also can we have it so the album view page spins round like a carousel? Oh and not forgetting having it saying "initiating shutdown sequence" and "initiating startup sequence". Ill let you know if I can think of anything else

Edit: Also transparency where needed

You can already swipe left and right or up and down on the album view to page albums that has been a feature for a long while.

Spinning around i assume you mean something like apples coverflow, that will not be happening however you can turn on scrolling so when you swipe the pages scroll on/off the screen.

Initiating start up sequence is basically the loading skin screen, there currently isn't a screen for powering down but i can just bring up the clean screen and change the text to say powering down. Did you want to show a specific image on start up and shutdown?

I was thinking after the splash screen when the black screen is displaying 'Loading Skin' that's when you will hear the "Initiating start-up sequence", I like the idea you came up with for powering down, but when the clear screen is displaying 'powering down' that could be when you hear the "Initiating shut-down sequence",

I have a new problem Barry, I've made a new null screen and saved it as a gif and a png but the texture viewer in the Skintool isn't finding it, its only seeing the default null, did I do something wrong

I've just had a look at apples cover flow, Yes that's what I mean but instead of having one album cover moving round, having all 8 or ten album covers moving round

The background screens need to be either JPG or BMP, PNG or GIF are not supported currently or in the near future as it would involve a re-write of the whole graphics stuff.

Coverflow or anything simular couldn't be done with what we have now without a total re-write as well and to be honest I have spent a lot of time attempting to do it in a way that it looks nice and is usable but I have not been able to achieve this. This would involve switching the entire graphics across to direct X and to be honest is beyond me at present.
