Title: Operating system compatibility?
Post by: bzpilot on June 09, 2014, 05:59:57 AM
Looking to update the hardware for my jukebox which is currently running Etouch v. 8.0.17 on Windows XP. At the same time I thought I would update the OS.

What issues if any would I run into if I move to a Windows 7 or Windows 8? Is anyone running their jukebox with these OS's?

I use windows 7 as the O/S on my dev machine and everything works fine. There are quite a few threds about this but the key seems to be;

Do Not Install into C:\Program Files.
Always launch the EXE's with administrator permissions.

It might be an idea to turn of UAC altogether as well.

The same is probably true of windows 8.1

Running Win 7 (Ultimate 32bit) and no issues despite installing in the default Program Files location.
I'm considering installing the 64bit version,however, as I have increased the memory to 8GB.
