Title: Genre PNG
Post by: Mark Norville on October 07, 2016, 08:04:32 PM
Hi Barry,

I am not sure if I have asked you before, or if someone else has asked you, to which they probably have.

All of the graphics are pretty much png, but sadly the genre buttons are not PNG so you have to have them as JPG's which is a bit of a bug bear, as it is throwing off skin design.

It is ok if you have a solid colour, but if you want to do something fancy, then it buggers up.

Is there any thoughts on making the genre icons PNG in the future?

Regards

Mark

Which genre buttons are you referring to? The ones on the actual Genre Selection Page or something else? It's just that I don't recall making any .jpg buttons for my skin, only jpg backgrounds.

Hi Tel,

There is a directory called Genres in the main eTouch folder, these are placement friendly images but they are in jpg format.

I cannot access your skin, so I cannot see what you have done, but I imagine, you have a lot of image not found when you go to your genre screen?

The genre and years folder are where you place images to show on the website, unless you hard code them into the design.

To give an example for the years folder, I can have up to the year 3500 or indeed longer as long as I create the year dates for them.

However when you hard code them into your design, then you might only go up to say 2020.

It gives flexibility on what you show, so in 3500 you create a new year for that era, it comes up with 3500.cvr that is your database, if you have an image called 3500.jpg then it will display.

In relation to genre, the chances are you will have something like

pop music.cvr so you need pop music.jpg so that your image shows.

Regards

Mark

They work the same as the album covers, they will not be converted to support PNG's

Ahh right, yeah, I see what you're referring to now Mark. I thought you meant the actual skin files themselves.

So far, I have just downloaded the necessary genre .jpg files from the net and yes, there are certain genres that don't have an image as yet but I'm gradually sorting those.
