Title: What format do Karaoke files need to be in?
Post by: eist1 on April 17, 2007, 12:46:39 AM
I'm trying to get Karaoke files working in Freebox, but using the config program I'm choosing the MP3+G folder, and I am getting errors in Config 2 Run-time error '380' Invalid Property Value. I have files labeled .cdg and .mp3. Which format will Freebox read. Please let me know what the process is, as I am ripping the Karaoke files from the CD+G CD. Below is my list of .mp3 and .cdg files, and also the errors I'm getting in config2 and config 3

Config 2 Error:

Config 3 Error:

Let me know if something looks wrong. I have also installed the MP3+G install from the zip folder in Freebox. Thanks

Files are in the right format, don't forget you need the mp3 part to be tagged. Your issue is you only have the files in one folder and they need to be in albums under your MP3+G folder. I just called them by the disc name.. If you have a few sub folders under your mp3+g folder it will work fine.

Barcrest,

Thanks that worked fine, needed the correct directory structure. BTW, if the config tool eventually gets the Genre into the database, will it be possible to filter by Genre sepratately between Audio Albums and Karaoke Albums? As it is now, if you have karaoke open and hit Genre, it brings up the Audio Genre list. Just wondering if that is going to be possible, as it will help when the Karaoke library gets larger. Thanks

OK cool I did that, but after I select the karoke album then click on the song I want the song starts but I cant click on the album to get it to go back to the now playing screen.
do I have to be at the current version and run the config3 for it to work?

Karaoke has been working for ages, so it should not matter what version you are using. I don't know why you can't get to the now playing screen  ??? Can you still click the other pages etc?

I only have one album as I have not been able to to successfully add a karoke album that I ripped.

It seems I having a problem with tagging them correctly, I can get the mp3 tagged so it show up in the karoke album screen, but then I get no lyrics. If I leave them alone as the way the are ripped I get no album names and the lyrics are all screewed up on the screen.

I guest I just dont know the ins and outs of the karoke thing yet.Any help with ripping and tagging would be great.

Well tagging is just a case of using Tag & Rename and tagging the MP3 as you would normally. The other file has to have the same filename as the mp3 to show up. I can't remeber the extension of that off the top of my head. If the CDG graphics are all screwy then it sounds like it didn't rip correctly so you might want to try a lower speed.

OK dokee, Ill try that Barry... and can you give any hints on why or how I can get the playing now screen to appear.I have the timer set to 25 in the options but thats not fast enough if you select a karoke song and then click play now.

Are you clicking on the album thumbnail at the top to call up the now playing screen? If you seet the time out time too short it will keep going there before you can select a track.
