Title: Config3 not finding all albums version 2.2.17
Post by: Woody on April 21, 2007, 02:47:44 PM
Barry

I just noticed that when I started freebox(2.2.17) it showed page 0 of 54 (should be 1 of 55) but the real problem is that I recall having somewhere arround 79 pages @ 12 albums per page. I opened up an older copy of config2 and ran it and it found 960 albums, config3 only finds 650 albums. I have not made any changes to to my files whatsoever. I tried to use config2 libraries but they cause juke app to crash.
I reverted to older juke and config2 and that finds all albums and runs fine.

Thanks

Woody

What the hell ?  I started poking arround trying to find any library problems (I didn't) and I went to the last album that wasn't displaying and found that it had only one song in that album, I put a secound copy of that song in the same dir and ran config3, results looked the same. I ran freebox and all of a sudden the entire library came up (0 of 79 pages)
the missing albums and tracks show and play. This is wierd. Something wierd is happening with albums with only one
track...... I think? I can,t reproduce the problem

Any other reports of this type of behaviour ?

Woody

I just ran 2.1.13 and 2.2.17 with identical results however I don't have any albums with singles in them.

I did however notice with 2.2.17 the focus doesn't appear to be on the main Jukebox app anymore. Meaning if another program loads it will cover the app and you have to hide the new program to see the juke app. It was sometimes annoying before because you would have to reduce from full screen to do anything else, but now its well just the opposite.

Woody,

Looks like you just re-created the same issue jonfinpausa is having... He has many albums with just one song in them, so he would see the same thing as you are seeing. I tested it myself, and I could not re-produce it, only because I have all full albums, no albums with just one song in it. So the issue looks to be narrowed down to the one song per album issue. At least now jonfinpausa won't think he's nutts!! :)

Yeah i think if you have one song in an album it doesn't like it... How many real albums have one song? I will attempt to fix this but i didn't notice becasue i only have real albums.

One of the reasons I enjoy a mp3 jukebox is because you can pick and choose what songs to have on it without being forced to have the full album.

Hey all

I guess I am too cheap to buy a bigger hard drive, I just rip the hits I like and put the cd in storage.

Hey Barry, take a close look because I did have some artist with only one album and one song in that one album and I think that didnt show up, but if I had one artist with 2 albums and one album had one song and the other was a complete album with say 10 songs, then both of those would show up.  ???

LOL not to confuse things anymore... Have a good day Bro

I have an order for a Jukebox, money coming your way as soon as I get the deposit.

 ;D LOL

I think I might have found a bug.It would seem if you have an album with more then one artist that album will appear with a Various Artist for the artist name. When you try to add more then one various Karoke album it seems all hell breaks loose especially if you manually tag the Karoke album as a Various Artist and you already have one karoke album that is a various artist.Does this make sense to you Barry or should go have a beer? :o

Further more it seems the if its a Various Artist album then the config and each artist name infront of the song title on the song selection screen, Im not sure this is a good thing especially if you have a long artist name cause then you cant see the title of the song...its a catch 22 I think.

For various artists you can make it show track title first on the album screen via the options... The other screwy stuff you are going on about i don't have a clue. It only will be listed as various artists if your artist tag doesn't match on every track in that album.

Try the attached config to see if it fixes the issue you had with the albums not showing up anyway.

nope its the same as the other config3.

But the changing the list track first works ... Cool beans.

Still loose alot of albums with the config3 file.

Ill just at version 2.2.11 until you get it sorted, No Problem
I would really like to see the button to remove albums back in the config where it was in config2.

BARRY,
we really need to look at these config files because they are buggy. If I add a new album to my mp3+g folder and run config to updated it removes one album for another, even thow when I had 3 albums all 3 appeared.I added a 4th and one went away and is no longer available.Do you have any idea why that would be?

OK I dont use update I actually use Generate Library. With config3 the delete album is gone and if you try to generate a blank library config3 crashes. So how do we successfully add new albums?

Kiser how do you add new audio, video,or karaoke material to your freebox list?If there is a better then using the config program then I would like to know. ???

Right i will work on it tonight. The problem is it seems to only be an issue for one or two people. Yes the update doesn't work but i don't even want to start that (Big Job) until the generate and add code is working correctly.

What it does right now is it finds all the album info and dumps it into a listview box that is hidden. This is the REC file that is used for searching. That part appears to be working fine.....

Then the config goes through this list and generates the list of albums. It is this part where something must be going wrong. I will get this fixed tonight..... The code looked fine last night when i looked at it but something clearly isn't right. I think i might have to make a debug version so i can see exactly what is going with your system and that will help me fix it.

I am shit busy at work and out of work which is why progress has been slow, i appologise and will do my best to get something done tonight.

Take your time Bro, You are aware that something is going on so thats enough for me.

All great things take time and there is no sense to rush it.

Have a super day and keep up the great work Barry !  ;)

Hey Barry,

I have been playing arround trying to troubleshoot this problem and I think it is coming from the Generate Library optioin. I deleted my libraries (records.rec and records.cvr) and I then ran the Add to Library option. Everything came as it used to in the earlier versions (config2) except one blank album listed first.
The only other problem is that the Genre files won't be generated when using the Add option.
This gets it playing for now.

Thanks

Woody

Nice find... This should make it pretty easy to sort out. If you use the ADD function are your compilation albums listed correctly? I think it's the code i used to work out if it was a compilation album that is causing albums to be skipped.

Hi Woody,

I tried to delete the two files you listed and run the config3 as listed in your post, the config crashed for me.

I even tried a complete fresh install of version 2.2.17 and ran the config3 and only got 157 pages verses 237 running version 2.2.11 with config2 on the same computer.I think you and Barry are on the right track and the project just keeps getting better.Good find woody and keep up the good work Barry !!

Here you go... i brought the source code to work and just used my lunch break to fix it. I tested it with folders with 1 MP3 and it now finds them.... The other issues will be looked at later. Hope you find this one ok.

That would be use ADD if you upload them to a seperate directory or use UPDATE if you intergrate them into the rest of your files. However update will probably take longer than generating a new database it will preserve the date added field for displaying NEW on newly added albums.

I should have the config fixed up a little more tonight. God i am starving....

Barry,

Take it easy man, don't skip your lunch or miss your pub time over this. Life is too short to worry about  something like this for a bunch of wankers like us. Just do what you enjoy doing and we we still be very appreciative. Anyway, looks like you've got it fixed right now except it adds one blank album at the end.

Thank you very much,

Woody

Ok bro here is the bad news.I added 10 albums to my library and closed freebox and ran the config3 and click
update Library like you said and it came back with no albums added adn when I started up freebox I had no albums in the audio screen.
I dont get it, am I the only person who adds albums to his/her library on a daily bases? I get new songs and somertimes albums everyday !

UPDATE doesn't work yet.. How many times have i said this??? You will have to put them in a seperate folder and point it to that and use ADD for the time being until i get update working. Which i am hoping will be this week.  ;)
