I'd like to see that one and the normalization one. I hate having tunes at different sound levels.

Hi Netcat and Kizer

Kizer you can download the DSP_ROCKSTEADY21 plugin to help and normalize the sound off your videos and songs. Just download it and dump it in the plugs-ins directory off winamp and set it up under options in winamp. Try it and see what it does. I don't use it anymore because I found differentses off up to 25 Db between some videos and it use memory and makes freebox slower. I have normalized all my videos but it have taken me three months to normalize everything. I had to do it all over because I had quality problems the first time.
Netcat, the problem most people struggle with is that winamp visualisations only works on the primery screen or on screen 1. You need to add vis_milk_jamie_tweaked.dll driver to your plugins in winamp and set it up under Options  -  Visualisations. If this driver is added you can use it on your second screen if you only have one video board installed. I hope that will sort it.
Let me know if there is anything els that I can help with.     ;)

thanks.

yes a little moredeail please.

where exactly do i get this "tweaked" plugin I'd also like to do the normailizing plugin thing.

I just spent the last two days RE-setting up my jukebox from scratch this time sing a copy of TINYXP VEr 06 (By EXperience), this customized version of XP is really TINY less than 1 Gig after Instialling it, and winrar, Freebox , ELo touchscreen drivers & WInamp and do far seems to be working great, I also replaced the bootup SPlash screen and made it SHell into ObjectDock instead of Internet Explorer, if you are going to be using your PC exclusively for Freebox this is the way to go, it es extremely fast, very small and uses very very little memory, I may write a tutorial if their is interest.

I'd like to get Winamp configrued correctly for visualizations & Normalization, if someone can give me some more detailed instructions I can do it and Take Snapshots and we can post

Coffee,
Thanks for the links

I tried the Rocksteady one and I think I must be a moron. I tried two different albums and the volume seemed way different. I made sure the plugin was enabled via winamp and the check mark was checked in Freebox. Could it be something else?

So will; any WinAmp plugin work? there are afew DSP plugins I'd liek to try. Didn't know if it had to be DirectX specific plugins. Thanks

Hi Kizer

You have to configer the dB range of the Rocksteady plugin under options. Yes, I have got the same result as you did, that's way I normalized all my videos. For me that works the best because you don't need any plugins and that saves memory.
Eist1. I'm not sure if it needs to be a DirectX specific plugin. I haven't tried it yet. You have any ideas? Let us know if you find something interresting.

I guess first I figure out if its doing what its supposed to be doing.

I ran a track and its naturally loud or I should say its at a good volume.
I then ran another track from a completely different album and the volume seemed rather low.

Does rocksteady lower the volume or raise the volume of lower recorded tracks? I wouldn't mind setting the volume lower to work with the lower recorded tracks and have the volume for the louder tracks lowered, but I guess its trail and error and trying to figure out what exactly its trying to do.

OK guys all of this is very nice, but little info is bing provided regarding "HOW" I will commit to doing a step by step with snapshots and all but I need specific instructions on exactly what to do

Instal the cross fader and it should work automatically, queue up some songs and you will see they are now crossfaded. WINAMP PLUGINS DO NOT WORK

- There is a certain WInamp Normalizer plugin that works ?
- Tis particular corssfader (Which has nothing to do with Winamp?)   works ?

NO WINAMP PLUGINS WORK, NONE....

All the winamp stuff does is let the winamp milkdrop plugin run with freebox that is all...

the crossfader i posted up will work, there is also a normaliser but it's too big to attach to the forum. I think there is a link to the site when you install the crossfader.

Excellent during the next couple of days I will get them running and create documentation with snapshots.

I remember originally you (or someone) posted step by step info on getting the the MILKFROP thingy and it was several steps if you remember or have the details please post, otherwize I will figure it our when I install.

Also there was a reference (And link in this forum) to a modified plugin for dual monitors my current jukebox has only one monitor will the modified plugin work on the primary AND/OR secondary screen or only on the secondary?

I found a program that works pretty well at enhancing my MP3's and making them sound much better. It's called SRS Audio Sandbox, can just do a search for it. It's not a plugin, it's a standalone program and enhances everything going out of your soundcard. It's one of the best I've found, if anyone has a better program let me know, I'd love to try it. Thanks

That was the old method of getting milkdrop to work. Now if you have it set up in winamp to display on the correct screen, which you test using winamp. It will work correctly when called by freebox...

i REALLY hope you figure this out! i gave up a while back trying to get it displayed on dual scrrens(or work properly for that matter), but i think a tutorial on how to step by step setup would be perfect!. im gonna mess around with it agian too, but will be eager to see what you come up with for the tutorial.!  ;D

Ideally i would switch to using Windows Media Player and we could just have the visualisations from that running. That is a huge job though and i just can't bring myself to do it right now...

Title: Re: WINAMP VISUALISATIONS

I believe that is what you sugested needed to hapen no?

switch to WMP?
Title: Re: WINAMP VISUALISATIONS
Post by: Barcrest on May 16, 2007, 04:17:51 PM
Yes in an ideal world... But i would probably need at least a full days coding. So unless you guys have a whip round and cover the £100 i will loose being off work for a day i can't see it happening soon. It involves ripping out all the active movie stuff... However the plus side is it should fix a load of issues with videos that don't play etc. It would also give the ability to have the wmp plug-ins working with freebox...

It's just a huge amount of work.

I have huge problems with Windows Media Player. It is not very unstable for me. It hangs up a lot. I have it on 4 computers and I have constant problems with it. Maybe it is just with me but if you play videos with it and hammer it ( forward, skip to next track ) it starts to stall and not responding. That is my only concern.

Fair enough, like i said it's a huge job anyway..

OK spent some time today playing with these so far with not very much luck

Winamp Milkdrop. DOesnt appear to work although I have checkmarked it inside of Freebox and I believe it is working within WInamp (I can see some funky visualizations when playing a song in winamp)

SRS Audio Sandbox: Interesting little app to optimize sound but, it is commercial and if you have a good library there is probably no need for it also to the best of myknowledge it does not normalize your music nor does it crossfade in between songs, personally I am not going to bother with this one it also takes up resources in the background

DCCCrossrendereer: this does appear to crossfade reasonably well.  no real need to documentations just unzip and install

so far all I can say is 1 out of 3 aint bad

id love to ghet visualizations working, anybody actually have this working right now ????

also "on the fly" normalizations would be a +++ ay ideas ??

are you getting it to work on just your main screen or using dual screens?.......dual video cards??
i have both screens sharing one video card and have had no luck getting winamp over to the other screen..unless windowed and dragged over but the graphic quality is piss poor. i'd like to see how yours is setup too..

I use dual screens with one video card. I will sort this out today and write up a tetorial and Kizer can maybe add it to the manual. I currently use 2.1.1.9 on my test machine and it works fine but I'll setup the latest release and write a manaul for it.

Hi Netcat

Check out "Winamp Visualizations online manual" under "Freebox User Guides and FAQ".
I hope that will be helpfull. If you follow the manual it should work everytime. Good luck.

Netcat, you can try Winamp 5.33, it should work aswell. Just remember if you have any problem during installation of Winamp, you should reinstall. I get that often and then some stuff just doesn't work. If it asks for any drivers that can also be a problem.

Download the crossfader here --->http://www.ppcomponents.com/utilities/DCCrossRenderer_v1.10_Installer.zip (http://www.ppcomponents.com/utilities/DCCrossRenderer_v1.10_Installer.zip)

Install, but one catch, when you try to "advance' the song with the song slider bar, E-Touch will crash!

Barry has no idea why or how to fix this!

Barry does not know how to fix because it is not a bug in E-touch
DC cross renderer has the this bug and runs in the windows environment and if you use
WMP alone WMP crashes, that's why E-touch crashes too.

Fordman, surely the track advance part would be disabled on a juke at a party anyway? Shouldn't really cause that much of an issue if it is...
