Title: Video Albums
Post by: skull on January 31, 2011, 06:26:16 AM
I have looked through the forum and dont think my answer is there.

Is it possible to setup video albums for artists as you can for Audio.

I have a number of complete music video albums freom dvd and the like.

eg /artist/album/songs etc...

or do all videos require a separate folder for each artist

Thanks skull :)

Yes, Video albums are possible and so are Karaoke albums.

Typical setup:
Jukebox Media/Audio/Artist/Album/Tracks
Jukebox Media/Videos/Artist/Album/Tracks
Jukebox Media/Karaoke/Artist/Album/Tracks

I choose to just use "Video Hits" and "Karaoke Hits" for all Albums under each Artist for Video and Karaoke because its usually a combination of different albums they all come from, similar to a greatest hits.  I also typically use the greatest hits album art for these folders if available too, if not just a random one for the artist will work.

With it setup this way if you select a song from the artist under the audio library and there is a video available for it in the video library a button will show on the Play Options screen that says "Video Available" - clicking on it will take you to play the video.  This is as long as the audio tag and video tag match (both artist name, and track name are identical).

Thanks bzpilot,

What about the following for audio and video alike.

Instead of showing one after the other album after album on the touchscreen

is there a way to show one icon or button for each artist that when pressed then

changes the view to only albums for that artist ???

Thanks skull

That look is currently achieved by selecting Filter By - Artist. Just know that in order for it to be visually appealing like the standard Album view you'll need to find art for each Artist which does take a lot of time to get it all (there is a download around to get a large selection of it, but it probably won't cover half your artists).

There currently isn't a way for this to be default screen when E-touch loads, but it could be added pretty easily if that is something you really desire.  Take a look at the Filter By - Artist and see if that is what you're talking about.

***In order for the "Filter By Artist" to be available you will need to have "Generate ARTIST libraries" selected in the Config when creating the databases***

Oh but you are incorrect sir, the filter by screen can be the default view. I did make a skin where it was the default view and pretty much everyone complianed and so I reverted it back to the album view. If you open up a skin in the skintool you can set the default home page, set it to be the filter by page and save the skin. Now when you use that skin in E-Touch the filter on page will be the default. You can make other pages be the default take a look.

I knew you had put some time into coding the option on the skin tool to select Default Screen as "Genre Selection Screen"  just thought you would need to make some small changes to add the option for "Artist Selection Screen" to default to Artist Filter.

No it's all in there, just my lack of manual causing confusion again.

Thanks again bzpilot and Barry you have made my day.

I will be using this idea for my audio folders as well as some artists

hog the screen because i have a heap of their albums and only one or two

of the other artists this will make the initial screen more uniform...

Thanks skull

I have tried to get the "video availablle" to come up with no luck. Am I missing a setting or is it maybe hidden in the skin and I need to find it in skintool????

No, it should come up without any changes in the settings.

Be sure that you have run the config for your Audio library, closed the config, then open it back up and run it for your video library.

Go to the Audio section in Etouch and verify the track is there (and the exact artist and track spellings), got to the Video section and verify it is also there (with the same spelling) - if it is then ETouch should automatically reference it on the Audio Page with the "Video Available" button.
