Title: Help Please - Duplicate music files
Post by: Clint Van Eyssen on April 20, 2016, 08:52:25 PM
Hey

I recently add new music to my selection however now it seems that all my files are duplicated when I start up the jukebox.  The files run a - z and then starts again at a (if I continue to page up) and the new folders are only on the second lot of a - z files.  How can I fix this.

Also I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program but that has not worked.  I have tried updating the library rather than generate a library but this has not worked.   Hope this makes sense to somebody.  :tommy :tommy :tommy :downer

TIA for the help.

Hi Clint,

Similar situation here, if you just read this http://www.freeboxjukebox.com/Forum/index.php?topic=5872.msg40284#new and follow the settings in the picture that I posted and try that and see if it works for you.

If not please advise.

Regards

Mark

It sounds like you are not running the program as administrator. This puts the data files in a strange location and causes these sorts of problems.

Go to your directory hopefully you installed it outside of the c:\program files

Find all the files that you need to set as admin such as main program, config 9, skintool

Right click on that file

goto properties

goto compatibility

privilege level tick that

apply and then ok

Rinse and repeat for the others.

Would this sort the issue i have with wrong jpeg on the wrong album cover even though the correct jpeg is in the correct album folder. Also when you click on said wrong album cover another album loads with the same song duplicated on every track.

If I have problems to be honest I just delete records and video and start again. However you still need to run the jukebox and config as admin outside of program files directory.

I do have the jukebox software saved on the c: drive does this pose a problem? What does accessing as admin do does this give you extra editing rights. only problem i have is the admin password is unknown to me as i aquired the computer i can reset this as i have found software to do so but only want to do this if essential. I have one or to stubborn albums even if deleted and readded that display the wrong jpeg and wrong album title (same one duplicated from a different album multiple times) if i can resolve this i would be happier not to enter the programme as admin unless necessary or should i have the jukebox software onto the external drive where i keep all the music files.

Thanks for all your help so far

Sorry for all the questions is it also best to clear all music albums before updating the database or what is the recommended way to update new music albums without causing duplication?

Ok idiot guide it is

Go into your etouch directory

You will see the following

records.cvr
records.cvx
records.lsc
records.lsr
records
records.rex

videos.cvr
videos.lsc
videos.lsr

delete all those files, if you can only see files named records or videos delete those, I have show file extensions on, but if I did not then I would just see records and videos.

These are your database files, so deleting them, you will not have a database and will need to create one.

Load config 9 as admin of course

Make sure you have pointed to the mp3 folder and then click generate always go to advanced

I have the following ticked

use album name  on compliations
generate genre artist and year libraries and then the clear next to them

you might want to grab artist info, or thumbs but that is up to you

Click on generate library and then wait.

When you add new albums in the future, just click on update library.

Regards

Mark

No wonder you want an idiot guide with the shit on your jukebox, only decent album is REM.

The database is a flat file database which is the records.cvr etc, so once you deleted those, then it should have started from a fresh database.

Where you have the two REM covers, have a look in the directory of the repeat and make sure that you do not have duplicates of the cover.

We shall try that step.

PMSL i have to cater for all tastes in music  ;) i started all from afresh checked in the repeated file and there are no duplicate images. In the second picture (duplicated) when you click into it another different artwork shows again wrong album and a single track is duplicated x amount of times from another completely different album.

There are also some cvr and rec files in the artist>audio folder, not sure if these will have any effect.

Does the update work with no probs for you Mark? Thought Barry said it wasn't working but I would rather use update as it's quicker.

Indeed there are, that might be the reason why. As Gaucho has said, go into that folder, delete all of those, and also your records in the main directory and try that.

Yeah I never have a problem using update rather than generate. I am on version 10,01 though, so I am not sure if Barry has done something in later versions though.

Cheers I'll give it a go. It was back in V9 or 8 that it was apparently a problem.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to write a batch file to update rather than generate.

Firstly you have so many windows open in the background, some of which you do not need as you are not a commercial operator, which is the price per play. I think that it does not work unless you have a commercial license.

Looking at where it says genre you have

Country, Country rock you should only have one genre, that might be why it is not working.

Sorry to go over things again but may I just clarify which problem are you still currently experiencing?

Having just read through the entire thread, your opening post mentions about a duplicate library starting from 'A' again, then further down you posted screenshots showing the wrong thumbnail icon. Which of these two (maybe both) are you still experiencing?

It's just that I've had the thumbnail problem in the past, if this is still a problem I'll see if I can try and remember what I did to sort it but it was well over a year ago since I had this problem.

Also, unsure whether this makes a difference but I run my actual Jukebox program in admin mode, going from your last screenshot of the config settings, it appears you aren't doing so, it might be worth trying that?

Hi Mark/Gaucho,

The windows open in the background are for my touchscreen games the credit emulator are for those so are seperate to the jukebox normally i have these closed when im not playing on the games.

I will check all of the genres tonight but that country album is not duplicated and seems fine within the jukebox but i am happy to give anything a go and appreciate all your help.

Hi berrywell,

I am not the original poster on this thread so that would be a seperate issue for someone else i just tagged onto it lol.

The issue i am experiencing is that duplicate thumbnails are showing on the wrong album even though the d:music album folder contains just the one correct jpg.

When in the jukebox and clicking on the wrong album artwork a completly different and random artwork then shows up in the track listing with a random track duplicated from another album (shown in second picture)

Other than that the system works great

As Gaucho has said though, there is the artists folder, so delete all the files from within that as well, also remove the Country, Country Rock from genres, as most software can only handle one genre at a time.

Mark

Hi mark,

I deleted all the folders last night and deleted them out of the artist folder and started again but still had the issue. But will try and edit the genres to a single one i know its going to be something simple thats causing the issue.

Just one other thing (well two) if it's not run in admin mode you will have problems and also if it isn't installed in the root of C: or if you have ever ran it from C:\Programmes\ it will have created files in a different location, I think it was user\roaming or something.

Oops, sorry, you are correct  :-[ that's my fault for quickly reading and trying to reply whilst on my morning coffee break. I wondered why I didn't follow it correctly.
I'm still trying to remember what exactly I did to rectify the problem, I'm sure it will come back to me.

Just to help me, what is the name of the jpg you have in that folder?
In the main Jukebox software, the main jukebox settings area, click 'appearance settings', in the Cover Filename options, do you have "Display 1st image found" ticked or not?
Also, It could be just something as simple as creating a copy image of the original jpg in that folder and then simply name that copy image Coversmall.jpg

One other thing, try ticking copy and rename first cover found etc. You may need it to run twice to create the thumbnail.

Thank you for all the help so far. Used tagscanner that Mark suggested in another post last night and saved the image from there to the folder and tada it now shows up in the jukebox so thank you for the link Mark  :beer as for the duplicated track listing or the tracks not showing in the jukebox for a certain album im just going to put that down to a bad download and will re download from a different source or rip the cd. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Post by: Mark Norville on October 28, 2016, 10:33:04 AM
Yeah I am liking tagscanner so far, I literally cleared about 500 artists and god knows how many albums within a couple of days, where as before I was using mp3 tag and it was taking decades.

I am still experimenting with tagscanner at the moment so I am not up to speed on it, however once I do manage to work it out, I cannot see me using any other tagger.

At the moment I am combing the two to do different things, but I think that tagscanner can do the same as I am trying to do on mp3 tag.

Sadly we all seem to get a dodgy album from time to time. I have one at the moment, and I cannot work out why it is doing what it is doing. I have every thing set for various artists, but for some reason it is showing the first artist as the album artist, and yet the other albums that I am doing all say various artists

Yeah i have the same issue on one rogue album but on face value nothing seems wrong very strange indeed
Title: Re: Help Please - Duplicate music files
Post by: Barcrest on October 28, 2016, 01:42:23 PM
Make sure the album has the same artist name across all tracks and the same album name. The change in artist name will list it under various. Differing album titles will cause duplicates. In tag and rename you can copy a field across all files and i do this with artist and album title to fix issues like this.

If you open the config and go to advanced to can see all albums listed with their path, this will help diagnose what is going on.
