Title: BUG REPORT : Skin Tool Bios Screen
Post by: Mark Norville on April 17, 2017, 01:32:40 PM
Hi Barry,

I am trying to mess around with track listing and bios page. I change the page to black, and it shows black but when you save it, and load the skin again, it changes back to white.

I am not going to lose sleep at the moment, as bios is not that important to me, but I will have to see if I can get it to black at a later date to save my sanity.

I have looked in track list, and I also looked at another skin, this has tracklist and tracklist_v2

In the other persons skin in track list, I find the following, but in mine I do not have that. I might try and copy this to my skin.

I am using 10.0.0 for skin tool, but I have version 9.0.25 as well, so I might give it a try on that as well.

Regards

Mark

Did you manage to sort this problem out Mark?
I've only ever used jpg background files on both the Bio & Track Listing pages.

No Barry was awaiting someone to test on the latest skin tool before he would look into it. I just moved on to other things as bios is not really my thing, but I done a flooking excellent button for it so have to include it now ;)

Almost finished but bored already and it is only Tuesday lol

Regards

Mark

Ahh right,
I've just quickly checked this by starting on a new skin using SkinTool 10.0.1, (the existing skins have assigned jpg backgrounds so couldn't use those).

I changed the Biography page background to Blue, saved the skin, reloaded it & the background had indeed returned back to plain white.
The track listing page background wouldn't change colour at all.

Cheers for checking that out, it looks as if might have to try and find the numbers in the text file and change that, just annoying that they are numbers rather than hex codes, FFFFFF is a lot easier to find than 394938498394890384903890489038490389042809849038 40309489032 84983290 489032849 83209 4803943

I should just buy a gramophone and listen to records, a lot easier than skinning lol

You should just use a jpg, not try and set the picture box back colour.

There is nothing there to use a jpg for, unless you need a specific image name like you do for album frame x

I just had a look at genie whatever it is, that has an image called bulletin-board.jpg for the bios, shall have a look how he does it.

To assign a jpg background to the biography screen, simply right click on the main background area (not a button or anything) and then select the jpg you require from the pop up window.

Sadly that does not work, it does not save the configuration.

It does the same, it shows the image, you save it and then it goes again

This must be a bug in the version you're using as it works fine in V10.0.1 for me, it saves the background and reloads it OK.

I've also checked the tracklist_v2.ini file and it's saved the necessary \images\imagename.jpg to line 980

The early versions of E-touch pre PNG support used a different button control and you didn't need images. It was to make skinning easier but it also looked a bit rubbish really. Back then you could alter the background colours and foreground colours but that has also been left in the past somewhat now.

I'll have a look tomorrow at some point, brain is already hurting and it is only Tuesday, usually, I get fed up on Thursday's then take the weekend off. I have a gas inspection next week, so I might take another week off, I can play music that is the main thing, I hate hitting brick walls, but thankfully it is not as bad as 9.05 I just want to finish this version, and then I know I am already looking at changes. Happy with some, not happy with others, speaking of not happy.

I was working on search and search results, flock me my OCD is like going into over drive, 9 on the history, 7 on search results, why flocking 7? Who in their right minds does not just have 10, simple 10. 10 of this, 10 of that, 10 of the other?

It is like 50 shades of skinning, but even more sadistic.

Rant over lol

this is what happens when software evolves rather than going through a design phase and then being built. E-touch has been lots of changes and additions over it's lifetime and this has lead to all these quirks. Every now and then I go through and remove redundant code and tidy up procedures to remove some of the legacy stuff that is no longer needed.#

Really it would need a whole new E-touch which isn't backwards compatible with the skins or anything so I could redesign some of this. In actuality it will not be happening and we will just get patched up versions.
