Title: .VOB Files
Post by: Sparky23 on June 26, 2008, 03:25:49 PM
Is there anyway to just play these files through WMP?  I've seen some DVD Decoder packs for WMP would something like that work?  Or do I have to convert them to something else?

If you have a DVD decoder for WMP that should work to play them, but might be a problem tagging .VOB's in Freebox.

I usually just rename .vob's to .mpeg and all is fine in freebox.  This way I can tag them.  Since everything else is usually .mpg, I can differentiate between the two easily (.mpg and .mpeg)

Agreed

if you rename them they will "usually" play in freebox although with tiny XP I have had some issues

I would recommend re-encodding them to a true MPG-1 file, the quality of the VOBs is DVD level which makes the files huge and unecessarily detailed

Thanks guys for the comments.  Any special program to use if I want to re-encode them?

Try downloading SUPER form ERIGHTSOFT. It's free and converts most formats.
