Support and Bug Reports / Re: Cdg file error when trying to play karaoke songs
« Last post by Mark Norville on August 26, 2020, 04:22:57 AM »
Firstly, we all have lives and we are not here 24 hours of the day 7 days of the week.

Secondly, we all have a disease called covid-19 which has put a lot of people's lives on hold and more important things.

Thirdly, spamming every two seconds will not get help any faster, please have patience and wait for help.

You need to download and install something for karaoke, I will edit this post once I find out what it is.

I am helping you at 05:25 am UK time, so that is pretty good hey?

Hopefully you have done the following

1) Ran the install as admin
2) Installed the program outside of c:\program files, you need to install it into c:\jukebox or similar
3) Look inside of the etouch directory you will see a file called karaoke-2.3 zip folder, unzip that
4) Run that set up as admin once more outside of c:\program files
5) I think that you need to have your karaoke properly tagged
6) Point to the directory that you have your karaoke in and when you run config 10 run that as admin.

As it is 05:30 am and you have made other posts, and as I am on my office PC, so I had to install etouch on to here, to HELP YOU!!

I have no karaoke files to hand to try it out, but if you have not done the above, then it will not work.

I will have a look at your other posts, and try and help you on there.

Regards

Mark

Iím beginning to feel like this is the worst £55 ever spent, I honestly expected some form of set up documentation with the full release, and not have to be reliant on figuring all this shit out myself or waiting hours for a response on a forum.

Following 2 hours of reading other forums (Could find no answers on here) I did manage to figure out that the karaoke install was pointing to the wrong media player, so after correcting that, I can now get it to start the song and show the lyrics. Alas, no music gets played....... again, any ideas anyone ? (I have checked all tagging in both mp3 and cdg files and it matches so I see no issues there. Wmp is handling the lyrics, so no issues there, what else can it be that itís reading the cdg but not mp3 ? Do they need to be connected in some way ? (following advise in another post that it took me over an hour to find, I did create the file structure as suggested (Karaoke/ artist / album)

I am finding this so damn frustrating and beginning to wish Iíd just gone for one with less options but works OOTB

Support and Bug Reports / Cdg file error when trying to play karaoke songs
« Last post by DUBious on August 25, 2020, 07:39:33 PM »
Anyone able to help with this please ? Iíve tagged MP3ís with mp3tag and they all show up as well as cover art, but when I try and play one, I get this message, is it a settings thing or tagging thing thatís causing the issue ?
Tks
I had taken a picture, but unable to upload that and as Iím at the point of throwing the fecking puter out the window, typing will have to suffice.
The file you are attempting to play has an extension .cdg (No shit Sherlock) that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behaviour.
If I select yes, nothing happens, if I select no, well of course nothing happens, go figure.
Any help much appreciate

E-Touch User Guides and FAQ / Karaoke file location and file types
« Last post by DUBious on August 25, 2020, 04:54:59 PM »
Firstly, just want to say, Iíve used the search function and read every post about karaoke, none explain the basics, Iíve also looked through every folder of my v10.2.1 install and can find nothing in the way of documentation or explanations on how to do (What I would consider to be) the basics, and whilst most of it seems pretty straightforward, somethings are not. Point in question.

1- where do I create the file structure for karaoke files
2- I have a few hundred mp3 + cdg files, do these need to be in separate folders
3- where is the karaoke config / set up ? (I have extracted the karaoke files already from the initial install of etouch)

Appreciate my help, and ideally a point in the direction of any help files, Iíve read every page of both the tutorials / faq as well as other sections and have so far found nothing substantial in the way of help / installation files. And whilst the forum is great, Iíd rather be more self sufficient.

General Discussion / Winamp / visualisations vs wmp
« Last post by DUBious on August 25, 2020, 03:01:29 PM »
Hi all, for paid for my lifetime today (Therefore, committed to using etouch over all others) Iíve made decent progress setting it up, but I have a question about the visualations. If I select the album cover, I can see visualations from wmp (And I do have some plug ins which work ok) but, Iím a long time fan of Winamp and Milkdrop, Iíve got both installed, and in settings I checked the box for ďuse Winamp visualations for audioĒ but it still uses windows media player ? Any ideas on this please ?

Also, is there a way to increase the size / position of the actual visualation pane ? (Longer term, Iíll be getting a second monitor for the visualation) but for now, Iím just wanting to get it set up with Winamp / Milkdrop

Thanks in advance for any suggestions / advice.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums. I am going to give you my honest point of view on etouch and touchjams.

Etouch - Negative it has a slight learning curve to it. Positive far better skins and far better skin tool to make your own skins, have a look at the skins section to see what has been made.

Touch jams - Negative the same skin same colours. Positive the chart feature is great

I have spent a lot of money on various touch screen jukebox software.

Etouch is without doubt the best out there if you want an actual jukebox proper style jukebox experience.

I HATED DESPISED etouch when I first tried it on version 7 I think it was, I wanted to love it, however, it would not work properly out of the box, a bit like the experience you are having. I spent hundreds on other software, and because I had the spare money I brought etouch on version 9 and have never looked back.

I will post to the skins section and include a couple of my video demo's of skins, so this post will be edited to include these.

Skin section http://www.freeboxjukebox.com/Forum/index.php?board=37.0

My skin demos to show you what you can produce (a lot of crap) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deMZgFBDKF0 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1PzW_u71mk

As you can see from the videos, they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT skins and resolutions. If you can skin, then you can create ANYTHING that you want.

Regards

Mark
