Hi guys,

Just a question relatieng to audio more so than the software side of jukebox building.
If i hook my computer to an amp (pioneer 5 channel)
Any time i get serious about the volume it cuts out (the amp i mean) and has to be turned back of then turned down else it will do it again.

From computer to amp is just a 3.5mm jack cable to RCA (Red and white)
Do i need to connected it through some kind of digital output or have i missed something?
Double checked speakers and wiring and all seems good.

Thanks for any help

Sounds like the amp doesn't have sufficent power to it or you are over driving it.

What other options have people used ?
As in other types of amps or cable setups?

I have done the same thing in the past just a 3.5mm cable connected to my PC to my amp. The only other thing I have added is a ground loop isolator to get rid of any hum from the receiver. Sounds like an issue with the amp. Try it on another amp. I also have a Pioneer 7.1 and have no problems. Also it may be that the input sound from the PC is too much for the amp, try using the amp volume to turn up rather than your PC (keep PC volume 1/2 or 3/4 and turn the amp volume up).

Ok thanks, i know that the volume is at 100% on the computer output so ill try that.
Have tried it on 2 other amps, with same overload issue so i dont think that its reveiver hum, but ill try a ground loop isolator if the 1st part isnt successful.

You really want the feed from the PC to be low and let the amp do all the work, if you are supplying too high a signal you are probably over driving it and that is why it's clipping. The ground loop isolator will only help if you can hear hard drive noise through the speakers or a mains hum.

Ive got mine set up using a 3.5 jack from the onboard sound on the juke to the RCA (red and white) on a 500 watt cinema surround sound system, no amp, no buzzing, no humming, just crystal cleer sound
