Freedback from the New Years party about the Jukebox was excellent, one thing mentioned though was that they would prefer to have a restricted track list in future.  Currently there is about 12,500 tracks on the Juke from a wide ranging musical variety.  I guess there is probably no more than 500 or so tracks that would be considered as "party tracks".  Clearly I could idenfity all of these and tag them in the Genre field as Party, but would it be possible to add a restriction to the options screen to only allow playing of selected genre's?

Well this is covered by the genre filter really. It would be a lot of work to allow multiple genres to be filtered so i'm afraid the work lies with you and tagging them, sorry my post isn't more helpful but i have limited time to work on new stuff and this one is not something i feel will be the best use of my limited coding time.

So if I tag all the songs I want available as "Party" then use the Genre Filter to only allow party to appear, would I then remove access to the Filter button in the options screen and the filter remain in place?

Would this also survive a reboot?

I also thought about whether to use Videos as a seperate library and only import the tracks I want in there, then I could force Freebox to start in Videos, would that work?  Though with that option I would probably have to create a second copy of the tracks.

Simpler solution is to just back up your current database, create a new folder structure with a directory called "party" within your music directory, point your DB to that, create a new DB with just party.  Make a batch file to switch them back and forth when you need to by just renaming the 2 database copies.

yes, that sounds doable.  thanks i'll give that a go.
