E-Touch 'Options' tutorial Part 1

'General Settings'

E-Touch is a Very Versitile program that has many features. Some you will use everyday, some you wont use a all. The features range from basic settings to 'User Input' requests. The author, Barry Barcrest takes suggestions very seriously. If enough responce from the user community responds favorably to any suggestion, and the suggestion is feasable, he will implement it into a future release.

All instructions will be BELOW each graphic.

E-Touch 'Options' is in the bottom left corner .
Press that button!

WOW, thats alot for one screen! But really, it's very easy to navigate. We'll take each section and explain it.

We can navigate the 'options' with the buttons above.
For this tutorial, we will use button.

In the upper left corner we have the 'Power Down Options'.

'Save Queue On Shutdown'
This saves what songs you have in the Queue so you dont have to add them again if you shutdown E-Touch then restart later.

'Save Settings On Shutdown'
This will save all your settings automatically if you forget to use the 'Save Settings' buttons in the 'Options' menu, if/when you shutdown.

'Exit Program at: {time select dropdown box}'
If you want E-Touch to only run for a specified amount of time, then select the time from the dropdown box. E-touch will then shutdown at the specified time automatically.

'Run Command On Shutdown'
You can have E-Touch run a specific program when E-Touch shuts down. You need to know the filename path for the program, such as c:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe will bring up Windows Explorer.

This feature is great for those that have a touchscreen and want to be keyboard-mouse free. Also is great for those that have E-Touch 'Shelled' (whole different tutorial) when the jukebox starts up.

In the 'Play Options' box we have 4 check box options:

'Mute LINE IN on Play'
This is for those that have a different source for music (mp3 player, portable CD player) so the music can be played on the jukebox. This will mute the LINE IN so the music doesnt mix between E-Touch and the other music source.

'Un-Mute LINE IN on Pause'
This is also for the different music source, it automatically UN-Mutes the LINE-IN so you can now play music from the other source (mp3 or CD players).

'Enable MIC' on Videos

This allows those that have a microphone attached to the jukebox to sing along with the videos and Karaoke.

'Limit Search Results'

This limit the search results to what ever you select. In the 'Search' feature if you use general terms as 'Hits' or 'Greatest' you will get many many results. This limits your results.

In the upper right we have an features in the 'Switch To Now Playing' box.

'Time to wait before switching'
This is the time in seconds the 'Main Menu' switches to the 'Now Playing' screen.

'Transparency'
There is an 'Enable Transparency' check box.
Use this if you have a desktop background you would like to use for the your background and E-Touch will 'Float' on top of the background.
This feature is adjusted to your liking with the Trasparency Opacity Slider.

NOTE: I have used an animated desktop background with this feature also. After some use by others, they feel the animated background was to intrusive on the E-Touch program. So the transparency set low can really hinder the visual of E-Touch. I have un-checked this and just use the E-Touch black background.

'Default Database\Filter'

'Database to use on startup'
We have a drop down menu that lets you use the 'Audio','Video' or 'Karaoke' menu when you start up E-Touch.

'Default Filter Screen'

You can have the Filter set to 'Artist', 'Genre' or 'Year' if you so desire.

'Track Display Options' box.

'Use Filename If No Tag Found'
This will use the file name if no ID3 or Non-MP3 tag isnt present.
song.mp3 doesnt have an ID3 tag, so it will display as 'song.mp3'
video.mp4 doesnt have a tag so it will just display as 'video.mp4'

'Display Track Numbers'

This will display Track numbers in the track list.

Without Track Number

'Show Track First Compilations'

NOTE: Need a little help with this one! Once I get this clarified, I will ammend this tutorial.

'Auto Back On Selection'
This will take you back to the 'Main Menu' screen after you have made your 'Play Next','Play Now','Add to Playlist','Add to Queue' selections from the 'Song Selection' menu.

'Display Media Type In List'

This will show what type of media you have. Audo, Video or Karaoke after the song title in the song slection screen.

'Hide Quick Jump Covers'

This will hide the Quick Jump Covers in the song selection screen.
The Quick Jump Covers lets you quickly jump to another album from the same artist.

'Launch Exernal App'
This will let you launch an external application if you need to without shutting down E-Touch. You need to know the external apps hard disk location; ie C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
You also can check to shutdown E-Touch upon exteranl app launch.

'Power Down Options'
Here we have the option to Shutdown, reboot, log off, Power Down ATX or Exit to Windows when E-Touch's button is pressed.

Here we see what version of E-Touch is currently being used.

Hope this can be of great help for those that wish to use the many features of E-Touch. But there are so many more and will be documented in later tutorials.

Next up: Appearance Settings

Thanks for the time,  :beer
