New problem

Just ran across a new problem. Not sure when it started. When I hit either the Just Added button or the Top Albums button, the screen doesn't change to show just the new albums or the top albums. The current page display changes to show 1 of 2, but the album covers don't show. They stay on whatever albums where showing. I have the New Albums set for 90 days and have a bunch of new albums loaded. When I scroll to the new albums in the main screen, the new label shows on them. The screen just doesn't update.

Any ideas on what I did? Or what I might have changed to make this happen?

There is a chance that this is broken.

Bug you mean ;)

No it worked in older versions but i think it was either swapped to only be created when you generate the library or when you first boot up. This may have broken it.

Looks like there are a few bugs/issues with the last release. I need to compile a definitive list and work through them.

Hey Barry, don't mean to bother you but have you found out anything about this and the visualization bug yet

Cary_B

Barry, regarding the two problems I asked about. On further research, the visualization bug is still there, but I found that the Newley added bug only happens on the following three skins: Midnight_Blue(1920x1080), Christmas_Eve_1920x1080, and St_Patricks_Day_1920x1080.

On these, I also noticed the following problems with the skins: the "A" and "#" buttons on the jump to screen don't work and on the Christmas_Eve_1920x1080 skin, when the number pad for password access is on screen, the keypad numbers are scrambled:

7 9 8
4 6 5
1 3 2
   0

Not a killer problem, but annoying.

I'd try and fix them myself, but I've never been able to wrap my head around the screen tool.

Having checked these skins (they are mine), I can confirm that the Jump To Letter problem & the Pin Number screen problem is down to me not skinning the buttons correctly  :-[

The newly added problem though, I'm unsure why it's only happening on my skins as I've checked the .ini files and they are coded in the same way as Coffee's Touch Genie skin. I will see if I can find out if it's a skinning error in the next few days.

Sorry about the poor skinning  :-[

At least that explains why i couldn't replicate those as I only use the default skin for testing and dev. That vis but i can replicate so i will look at fixing that over the next week or so while we still have hosting.

Barry, not sure about this, I asked Barrywell about it also.  He has a bunch of .png files in his skins that are pictures of the years, i assume meant to be used when you filter on year.  Only the program only seems to use .jpg files as pictures. Didn't you set it so you could use .png files for these pictures a long time ago?  And if so, how do I make them work?

Cary_B

Barry, I also sent this to Barrywell:

So far I haven't noticed any other problems. But mostly just use the basics. Will put them through the ringer the next few days. Look for anything else.

And the newly added is a weird problem. Some skins work and some don't. I've noticed that if you filter on newly added in a skin that it works on, then load one of your skins up while it is filtered, when your skin loads the newly added albums are showing. But unfilter and it doesn't work again. So I think it might be a combination of a bug in Freebox and something in your skin not working together.

Also, noticed a set of .png files of the years in the directory of your skins. (1950-2045? Can't remember the exact number off the top of my head.)  What are these for? I thought they could be used for when you filtered on years, but it seems like Freebox only just .jpg for those images. I would love to use yours as the .jpgs I'm using from an old skin leave a boxy square around then pictures.

Not sure if this helps lock the problem down, or narrows it down to only a problem with the skins or something in the program.

And  Barrywell, don't apologize for bad skinning.  Yours are excellent.  I wish I had about 10 more.  My jukebox has a 1920 x 1080 touchscreen and your skins are beautiful on it.  Especially wish you had a 1920x1080 halloween skin to go with the rest of yours.  Thanks for releasing them to us to use.

#10
Barry, please don't hate me, but I just figured out that I was running the latest version 10 program, but never installed the latest version 10 beta.  I had downloaded it and sent it to my jukebox, but since I unzipped it on my main computer and transferred it to my jukebox, and since they have the same filename once you unzip them, I guess I thought that I had already installed it.

Anyway, long story short, the beta version doesn't have the visualization bug, or the newly added bug.  I can't believe that I drove you nuts to fix a bug that you had already fixed.

Again, I am truly sorry to have wasted your time on those two bugs when it was my fault.

Sorry again.  The visualization bug is still there.  I was changing skins a bunch and didn't notice it on some.  Seems like some of them have the visualization hidden off screen.  So it doesn't show.  I even played around in the registry to see if it wasn't saving the visualization setting but it does seem to save it.  So it looks like it isn't loading the setting when the program loads.  But if you uncheck and then recheck the setting, it turns it off.  Maybe that will help you with this one...

Are we expecting to lose the website soon then? Why not create a faceyawn page? I know that sales have seemed to be slow this year, but if you have not already check out 1&1 or hostgator, they are cheap on hosting.

It would be a shame if this went AWOL as you might generate one or two sales a year, just enough to pay for hosting at least, and a beer.

Maybe a new website and a new default skin might help, also some SEO work.

Regards

Mark

I've had a bit of time to check the 'Newly Added' on my skins & I don't appear to have this problem, the covers change correctly.

I will correct the other problems hopefully this week.

He could also try HostPresto, they have been good for me for many years, they are cheap & have been reliable.

Hi,
I never got this as a private message, I'm assuming you sent it to me?

The .png year buttons in the skins (1952-2019) are for the chart selection page within that skin, they are not used for the Filter section (Genre/Years/etc.) they are something different and require a .jpg file. I suppose there is nothing to stop you from converting the .png files to .jpg files and using them for the filter page. Hope that helps a tad.

As for the jump to letter problem, whilst I haven't fixed the buttons yet (haven't had time) I have investigated a little further.
It seems that there is a bug within the Skin Tool itself that saves the Jump To Letter buttons in the wrong place OR the skin tool initially shows the buttons in the wrong place and replacing them with the corresponding letter meaning it's saved wrong.
Either way, it saves to the .ini file incorrectly.

Hope to get the skins sorted this week sometime.
