Can't remeber who was running this but is there any chance of an update?
Apologies for not updating lately.
AUS, UK & US Charts have now beeen updated to Sep, Also added this weeks charts as October so the latest charts appear on the most current chart page.
Unfortunately the site I was getting the other chart updates from has now closed down and we are awaiting to see if the archives will be rereleased.
Also I have added the US Hot 100 charts from 1953-1964, closing the 'gap' to now 65-69 which i hope to have finished and checked for errors in the next week or so.
Excellent i am hoping to include them in the next public release of V5 along with the updated skins etc. Due to some bugs that have come to light and lack of a laptop right now it's looking like next week before i make that release. However i am pretty confident it will be a worth while release with some nice new additions like the genre icons in.
Thanks for updating the files, i will grab them later and start intergrating them into the jukebox.
Barry,
Well finally, I have closed the gap!! After about a year of mindless text editing the US Hot 100 charts are now complete from Jan 1953 to this week! I have also finished matching the original UK charts to the US charts so the entries should match across the board. All files have now been uploaded to my site.
Hi Andowhy
Have you got updated charts for the rest of the year yet?
Would be nice to have ready for those new-year partys!
Just updated up to Dec 2009.
Thanks for the update dude. Good work as always. :beer
If anyone else knows of a good source for other localised charts feel free to share so we can update the pack. Would be good to have the ability to automatically download the latest charts maybe this could be done with a bat file?
Thanks andowhy! :beer
I think it wood be cool to have the option to start with either the current month or the previous month. Right now it starts with January but we don't have a chart for January yet as it is too early. So when you hit Decades everything says no chart found. Or maybe start with the highest month found in the highest year.
andowhy, do you want the australian charts ealier then what you have...i have done them from 1953
yeah that'd be great.
Wahoo! more charts ;)
Are these still being updated?
Yeah, I am still producing the charts, just have been on holidays for the last 3 weeks along with a myriad of other things, I have the charts, will upload later tonight.
:beer
Thanks dude.
I will need to update the V6 release to include any additions you have posted.
Barry,
UK and AUS charts are up to date as of last week, Ive had a few issues with the Billboard site but will have a look now. There is a new chart I have started working on - the Global Chart List, pretty good concept, Ive done the last 5 years or so, but having a few troubles finding a good thumbnail.
Regards,
Darren
Looks like its working now, Ill update the july/aug charts now.
July/August Update is now live. All good to go.
Excellent dude :beer
How come the US Hot 100 September chart (11.txt) for 1991 has 11 entries?
Can someone (hopefully the chart author) refresh my memory (or point me to a post that explains it) how the monthly entries are derived/from where is the data sourced?
Hmm... will check that when I get home. I have the Sep charts ready to go, will upload them when I get home tonight.
I take the charts from the second chart week of each month and use the offical chart sites.
US Hot 100 - billboard.com
AUS - aria.com.au
UK - officialcharts.com
Global - mediatraffic.de
Your USA Sep 2010 (current) top 10 has Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg : California Girls in both slots 2 and 7.
Unfortunately most of the sites you presumably get the details from (in this case billboard.com? are blocked for me here at work so I can't check what it should be)
And the UK one for the same month has an extra quote/comma in it that should be removed.
"Katy Perry","Teenage Dream",",new.gif
*** UPDATE ***
After checking on the weekend it appears that song#2 on the September 2010 USA Charts should be "Katy Perry","Teenage Dream",new.gif

To Novalak... the ARIA charts only started being published in 1989 as far as I know. Does this mean you have charts that precede this, maybe from "Countdown" or a conjoined list from each state's major (at that stage AM) radio station i.e. 5AD etc.?
If so I'd love to see these... I'm using the charts to build the uber-single jukebox and it's interesting to note how little (maybe 50%) of crossover there is between the USA/UK/AUS charts... so I suspect, even though I've had a damn good crack at it, that maybe I've missed a few great Aussie artists/songs or even a few "global" artists in the earlier years that only charted in Oz (John (ny Cougar) Mellencamp had his first chart hits of "Miami" and ""I Need a Lover" in Oz and most yanks still think "Whatever happened to Midnight Oil" and think of them as a one-hit wonder and would be surprised to see the lead singer as a politician now).

John Cougar Mellencamp, in the UK his one hit wonder was "Jack and Diane"... I love that track.
I'd be interested in seeing these too. So many great aussie artists/songs that the rest of the world would not know about.
50's, 60's & 70's examples:
Johnny O'Keefe, Cole Joy and The Joy Boys, The Easybeats, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs (had a long competition with deep purple to be the loudest band), The Masters Apprentices, The Loved Ones, Max Merritt, Spectrum, Daddy Cool, Chain, Russell Morris, The Dingos, Lobby Lloyd, Sherbert, Hush, Skyhooks, John Paul Young.....I could go on and on and all of these people had number ones here.
Theres a nice set of australian chart archives from the defunct Go Set music magazine you can use from here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20070313111901rn_1/www.poparchives.com.au/gosetcharts/
Also just found this on wikipedia.....looks damn good:

Hi All,
February charts are live. I have also added the Pre-Aria charts from 1953-1988, thanks to Novalak for the hard work in supplying these.
http://www.members.westnet.com.au/gvdmdshn/
You bloody ripper!!! .... just had a quick look through and reckon I've got most but there's some surprises in there.... ah, the memories ;o)
BTW, each line in the extra Aussie charts ends in ,. (instead of new.gif,down.gif or stay.gif) but I'll adjust my set since I need to check them all against my exact match standard anyway. Also a few directories had the extraction .bat and .pl file still in there.
Just for my interest, since these are not the ARIA charts, does anyone (Novalak?) know what the source actually was? I'm adjusting the pictures on my chart display to a glossy square flag anyway so I can keep them together.
BTW2 - andowhy... the UK Feb 2011 chart is present in the full download but not in the UK 2010/2011 download.

ok i can fix them, but to be honest i dont give a hoot about the up and down - it doesnt make a difference to me so i took them off
I have a script to put them back in, but in all honestly - why?
The .pl and .bat is my fault, they are some of my scripts i use to create it every month - you can delete those

Yeah i bought this book - http://www.austchartbook.com.au/
He talks about how he collected the data in the book, something likepublished record sales and radio plays or something - been while and the book is now destroyed
Then i scanned every page, OCR'd them then ran scripts over them - took weeks
I still have the pdfs though so i can look back
Hi All,

Hi Andowhy
Thanks for keeping the charts up to date.
Any updates? ???
Coffee,
Sorry, I have been updating the website, but due to being out of town a fair bit recently I havent been on the forums to post update messages, but the charts are still being updated each month.

Coffee if your IT savvy I can post how to make your own charts with a script which I use
No update on these charts yet?
@Andyowhy... are you still around? I don't think we've had an update to these charts for a few months and I hope everything's okay?
If you've just otherwise been busy then, when you get a few minutes, would you mind providing the script you refer to and/or would you mind providing the URLs to the actual sites you scrape the information from?
More importantly, could you alert me as to exactly what DAY you do this on... I've been to what I think the sites are that you use before to try to "manually" create the files before your updates but mine never seem to exactly match what you end up producing - either a song or two sneaks in or out or the positions are slightly altered.
Hi Guys
The charts is a bit important. Is there no one here who is willing to keep this charts up to date for us?
It might be a case of having to do our own.
Is it hard to do?
I mite have a go myself if you can tell me what needs to be done

If you just look at the text files, you'll see it's pretty straight forward.
Where am i looking for these files?
Ok i couldnt wait for an answer to my last post so i went looking in the install files and found a file called history, and in this file is three more files called ARIA Chart, UK Chart and US Hot 100 Chart, In these files are more files named from 1953 to 2011, In all of these files (Apart from 2011) are 12 txt files named from 01 to 12, Am i correct in assuming these are the top 10 hits for that month? if so were do i go to get the rite info? all help mucho grassias
OK heres what ive done, this is the top 10 hits for feb 2011
"Jessie J","Price Tag (feat. B.o.b)".gif
"Adele","Someone Like You".gif
"Rihanna","S&m".gif
"Adele","Someone Like You".gif
"Chipmunk","Champion (feat. Chris Brown)".gif
"Adele","Rolling In The Deep".gif
"Chris Brown","Yeah 3x".gif
"Alexis Jordan","Good Girl".gif
"Bruno Mars","Grenade".gif
"Lady Gaga","Born This Way".gif
Apart from the up and down been missing just before the .gif is this rite? I couldnt put the up and down in next to the song cos the web site i obtained my info from didnt give that sort of literature
That is correct apart from the gif info.
This is how it should look like:
"Kelly Clarkson","Mr Know It All",up.gif
"Gotye Feat. Kimbra","Somebody I used To Know",up.gif
"LMFAO","Sexy And I Know It",down.gif
"Rihanna Feat. Calvin Harris","We Found Love",stay.gif
"Maroon 5","Moves Like Jagger",down.gif
"Gym Class Heroes Feat. Adam Levine","Stereo Hearts",up.gif

LOL. I had the same problem and a lot of the time it was guess work but the charts change weekly so you can see what happened and how the songs moved.
I think the best way is to take the charts for the first week of every month and work only with that. This way you can compair the lastest info with the previous month's first week and enter the new, up, down and stay according to that.
Ok I'll Give it a go, But be patient as im in the middle of making a new skin and making a new cabinate for my juke but i will give the charts priority for you guys
Can Someone please point me in the right direction for the australian charts, i was getting the info from aria charts itself but i could only get data back to june 2011 and i need to get feb 2011 to may 2011, then i found top40.com which totally contradicts what aria is saying, Does anybody know where i can get the right info from
Ok I have the uk charts ready and the us charts ready and up to date, i just need the aria charts to update but need help on a reliable site for info any suggestions?
Panic Over Ive Found somewhere, Ill have the charts done tonight
