the screen had started to lag a bit when I dragged the slider on right.  After some checks i found a lot of my "cover" & "coversmall" images were huge. some as large as 2000x2000. After many hours of resizing the images down to 500x500 & 170x170 the results were amazing. so if you are starting to suffer from lag, check the size of your cover art  :beer

This is the purpose of the coversmall images to speed up that display. I use 170x170 on a 1024 x 768 skin and they look great as well as giving a nice speed boost.

Yeah me too. I have mine set to 170x170 and my full size images I think I have them at 500x500 or something close.
I'm not around 100% so please feel free to PM if you need direct help. Trust me I'm not ignoring you in a post. ;)

hours to resize??????

i do a search on the root folder for *.jpg, highlight then all then right click -> resize ->advanced-> 500x500

The resize tool i use is a microsoft tool

http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

does it all in seconds...fantastic tool!

Does that overwrite the original image?

If so then is there and easy way to copy all the cover.jpg to coversmall.jpg then resize the coversmall.jpg.

I let freebox do it but you have to let the config have focus and not do anything because of how i am saving out the image. I really could do with a better method for saving out the JPG file i suppose. Would be nice to have a proper write up of this for the tutorial section.

there is an option

tick to replace the original image or untick to create a new image

i only use it to get the folder.jpg (or cover.jpg, depends on what you call it) to 500x500

then i let freebox create the 170x170 images

I am using Adobe Photshop to re-size the images. Once the 500 x 500 has been created I then use the function "Save for web" this reduces the file size and also gives the option of to replace the origonal if it exists
