Is there a way to raise the db levels of mp3's without effecting to quality of the music.  I'm using mp3 gain but it says something about claping? Does claping effect sound quality? Have no idea whats clamping? ???

You sure it's not on about clipping?

You are bound to have some tracks clipped when you have a large collection of mp3's but if you set track gain higher than the normal 89dB you'll get more clipping the higher you set the track gain.
The higher you set the gain, you will get more quility issues but at the normal 89dB it is unlikely you would hear any problems on the ones that do get clipped.

MP3 Gain is more about bringing the level of the tracks to something consistant rather than trying to make them all louder. If you need more volume you need a bigger amp. Coffees description of what you are experiencing is spot on.

Thank you guys! :beer the reason I'm asking is b/c I'm trying to use a touchtunes amp I have a couple of them acutally more than a few but they sound a bit low.  All I can think of is to raise the db's to see if I can get a higher volume.  I already use dfx plugin to raise the volume but its just not quite enough.  Any ideas!?

I had the same problem years back with a amp I had.
I also raised the dB level to 100 dB to get more volume. The problem is that the amp can only do the Watts it is specified for. In order to get more volume you would need to drop the Bass setting on the amp, which is what uses the most power and then it would be louder but it would sound crappy.
My advice to you is to simply get a bigger amp as Barry said. (Trust me on this one 'cause I have years of experience on this topic)

Thanks for the input coffee I'll take your advice and stop fooling around with these amps then.   :downer  I have over 14 of these amps but hey if it cant be done, it  cant be done.  The weird part is that touchtunes also use mp3 like we do right?

I'm really not sure.
You can still use those amps but you may not get the volume from them like you want. I also still have 12 amps that is just not worth using. I not trying to put you off your idea to increase your dB volumes.
It's just, I've been there, done it and I've learned from the mistakes I've made. Now I can only give you advice so you don't make the same mistakes I've made.

Touchtunes do use digital music but probably DRM'd. I don't know the amp isn't giving you enough volume but you will probably get better results with a more powerful amp. A car amp will run off the PC Power supply and should be loud enough for what you want just make sure you have a beefy PC power supply to run it.

I'm actually using a 300 Watt Car Amp in one of my jukeboxes and running it off the PC Power Supply. I believe it's a 750 Watt Power Supply. Sounds great, and also have it connected to to 2 Kicker spreakers.
