Did you to install the karaoke.zip file which you will find in e-touch root?

Make sure you install the karaoke plugin for WMP, youl find it in the etouch 7 install folder under karaoke-2.3.zip, you have to unzip the file and then install the plugin. After that ill recomend playing a karaoke file outside of etouch, that way youll have a pop question on WMP asking if you want to open an extention, just thick on the option that says always open, that way youll be able to play karaoke files on etouch...

Delete your REC and CVR files and rebuild the library again.

Its a real tricky task getting karaoke work on win 7, ive been trying for ages then gave up, There are posts on the forum somewhere of what to do.

If you have an audio juke only you'd be better of putting win xp on your juke as the media player on xp will play all your karaoke files, But if you have a video juke then stick with win 7 because xp wont play all your videos unless you have every codec pack known to man installed on you juke.

Some people have got it to work though
Dear God, Please bring back Bob Marley, In return you can have Justin Bieber. Amen

Never had an issue playing any video on XP using: http://www.codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

yeah I've read through a ton of posts and tried the Registry entry and all of that...nothing worked.

Barry...I just tried deleting the two files and that didn't work either...

It's such strange behavior...you can open the file in WMP...it spits an error...close the error...then hit play and it plays...and the very first time I loaded it all up the first one I clicked on worked in Etouch...then nothing after that.

hmmmmmm

What is the error you are seeing?

Yes, what Dtupper is saying was happening to me in Win7.
Downgrading to WMP11 what he did according to Eist instructions worked for me.
I wonder why WMP12 does not work ok with karaoke plug ins (I tried several and none worked).
Only downgrading to WMP11 in Win7 made it.

Barry,

There's no displayed error.  I click on Play Now...the track info shows in the upper right for one half second then it just goes away back to No Song Playing.

I Keep seeing this in the error log but I'm not sure they are related:
#2011-06-17 11:22:05#,"52","Bad file name or number","Form1","load_db3","E-Touch v7.0.9","Don","GODZILLA"

this is on Beta 08

dtupper,

I had a similar situation with Win 7, but it was never consistent. One install would not work, I blew away Win 7 re-installed Win 7 and it worked. I wrote up a tutorial on here to downgrade WMP from 12 to 11 due to the issue (thinking Karaoke didn't work on WMP 12) but another install and it worked. You can try downgrading, here's what I wrote up awhile back, but if I remember correctly my issue was that WMP 12 didn't recognize .cdg, but tyour issue sounds like something I saw too.

Ok, after a bunch of trial and error with Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12 I have finally got everything to work (the same as WMP 11 on XP) I downgraded WMP 12 to WMP 11 with the following downgrade script Windows7WMPDowngrader_1.1.exe http://www.iamkizer.net/freeboxjukebox/files/skins/V4skins/Downloads/Windows7WMPDowngrader_1.1.exe Also I downloaded a newer version of Karaoke for DirectX which now allows videos for the karaoke screen background karaoke-3.0-beta3 http://www.iamkizer.net/freeboxjukebox/files/skins/V4skins/Downloads/karaoke-3.0-beta3.zip (Barry may want to include this updated karaoke zip in future versions of E-Touch.)

Here are the steps I took to downgrade from WMP 12 to WMP 11 on Windows 7:

1. Uninstall Karaoke for Direct X if you already have it installed (also go into Program Files and delete the folder if it is still there)
2. Do a regedit and seach the registry for .cdg and delete any entries it finds for .cdg
3. Run the Windows7WMPDowngrader_1.1.exe and let it do its install. After it's done reboot.
4. After rebooting install karaoke-3.0-beta3 and reboot again
5. After rebooting go into your Karaoke song folder and right click a .cdg file and choose Open With and then choose Windows Media Player and make sure the "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" box is checked
6. The .cdg should now open in WMP 11 and start playing (at least it did for me after doing this a few times)

Hope this helps some of you out
