Viruses will spread to any program it can, you can download a safe program but it will possibly get infected at a later date. A virus checker often doesn't get rid easier to format.

Yeah ano mark, ive just done a scan on that file and nothing found so I'm doin a full scan see what pops up

I would recommend using at least three different programs as I have had viruses where Norton has not picked up, but then AVG has. Sadly not a lot you can really do to prevent hackers and viruses in the long term, they are always around, and chances are that you might have a in the wild virus which is dormant and not picked up by a checker anyway.

Yeah I'm due a format and reinstall anyway, I do it every 3 months as a ritual, keeps my laptop runnin fast and clean

My guess is it's a false positive.

For what it's worth, I don't use any payware anti virus programs at all on any of my systems, just stick with the built in Windows AV and firewall and use common sense. I'm careful about what links I open, but am not afraid of downloading stuff either. Haven't ever been hit by any virus/trojan in 20+ years of which the last ~8 years I'm running the built in Windows AV.

I agree i only use microsoft security essentials and malware bytes for the occasional maleare scan. It is probably a false positive. I so scan before upload but i cannot be 100% obviously.

I also agree about the false positive because its never happened before, I also scanned the non mp3 tagger with kaspersky and that came up negative, then a full scan of laptop and that was negative, next is the full scan in safe mode just to make sure, but i am due a format
