Hi Guys,

As most of you know I think outside of the box a lot of the times, and push this software to the limit. I also have some very weird and wonderful thoughts and this is one of them.

This how to, tip or whatever you want to call it, is very easy and very quick, and gives you three different jukeboxes in one easy installation (install outside of program files, and always run as admin)

Ok so let's say for example you want the following an 80's-90's jukebox, a heavy metal jukebox and let's say just a Movie Soundtrack jukebox.

We can do this very easily with three simple directories, one for each music type, where we can store all our files into.

On the software we can have Audio, Videos and Karaoke, when we use config9/10 or whatever version you are on, you can point audio to 80's-90's storage file, videos to metal storage, and karaoke to movie soundtracks.

As soon as you load eTouch you can goto the options screen and select the default database to load and also in appearance settings, we can select whether we want to show new albums and to which directory audio, karaoke, video that we want to display as.

Once you have selected which database to load, that will be your main jukebox, the other files will be useable if you search for them, but they will not be visible, giving the illusion, that you have three different jukeboxes.

Obviously, if you have a skin for each then it adds to the effect.

The tip is basic, and some of you might have already been doing this, but if you haven't especially for commercial operators this can give a pub a few more features.

I am now retired from the jukebox scene. I still visit from time to time and will help if I can, but apart from that. I am no longer a slave to downloading and tagging.

Isnt this is why etouch has collections?  I never used that feature thats why I asked.

Mark Norville

The collections are slightly different. Yes you can create a collection of 80's music for example, but then you have to keep updating that collection, but people can still access other parts of the system, where you can block them from on specifically dedicated skins.

I have not messed around much with collections to be honest, however, yes you could use collections looking at roughly what you can do with it.

Yet if you just play the same three types of music such as in a bar, then you do not have to worry about collections.

The problem with collections though, I am trying to think of something, you would still be able to use a specific skin.

You have stumped me a bit in relation to collections, but for short and simple, a dedicated folder is much simpler and although collections does give you more options, but you have to remember those options such as grunge music etc.

So instead of 20 collections for example, it is three main jukeboxes.

I knew what I meant when I typed this morning, I don't now, you have confused me lol

lol  I have a genre called the 80's in my jukeboxes and it gets loads of attention.  That is why I ask about collections I also will look more into it. :beer

That is a swine, I just looked at the skin tool, and you can start at most pages, but sadly you cannot start with collections shown first.

I am not sure if that is something that Barry missed out on purpose, as you can start on genre, even queue screen which seems odd.

Might be some work for Barry to be doing, instead of taking all this time off ;)

I personally would possibly not want that, however, do I think that it should be included, yes. I think that would possibly benefit commercial users more, as it would be like an interface where you can control what is being played.

I think I have seen something similar in a pub once, but that was more on a POS system rather than the actual jukebox.

You would obviously have to create custom graphics though for the collections, as there are no text involved with that screen.

It might look pretty smart though, with the right skin.

P.S my God, either you or the baby have shat the bed, you are early for a Saturday lol
