[SOLVED] Having Issues when running E-Touch with FLAC music files

Hello,
Is anyone using Hi-Res Uncompressed FLAC files with E-Touch?

I have been running my E-Touch for about a year now with MP3 files and all works well. I just upgraded my E-Touch music library to Hi-Res Uncompressed FLAC files and the sound quality is amazing!
The issue I have run into is it seems that E-Touch does not like something in the FLAC format.

And yes, I have verified that the TAGS are correct in my FLAC files and match the TAGS in my MP3 files

1 The Artist and Album titles are not reading properly
2 The other albums by this Artist are not showing up
3 The albums are not sorting by Alphabetically by artist

When I reload my MP3 library, everything seems to be fine again.

Is this a glitch/bug or is it most likely something on my end?

Thank you in advance.

I run FLAC files exclusively. Never had a problem. The only thing that pops into my head is to make sure that you use generate when building your library and not update. I never use update as it seems to do bad things to my library.

Hi Cary,

I always do run generate as I have had issues with update as well.

I tried to re-run it again and i noticed that the "Artist" field does not appear to be updating even though it shows the artist tag in the upper part of the window.
I took a screen shot but it wont let me upload it to this message.

Not sure then, unless your using the ALBUM ARTIST checkbox in the config, and whatever program you used to make the FLAC files didn't map it correctly. FLAC is pretty universal, but some programs don't map the fields correctly. Check the ARTIST and ALBUM ARTIST fields in both an mp3 and a FLAC file and make sure they are both spelled the same. I use Tag & Rename to clean up tags DBpoweramp to make my FLACS and mp3s. Both programs map all fields correctly so I'm not sure if this could be your problem or not. Would have to see a FLAC file of yours to compare with mine to see the difference.

Hi Cary, Thank you for your input, i appreciate it.

To make this even issue more confusing, I have a HiRes portable FLAC player and the Artist and Album Tags are correct when I load my files on to it.

I also use Dbpoweramp to create my FLAC files and I use MP3 Tag to clean up my file tags.

I have just recently began upgrading my music collection to FLAC. I have several hundred CD's in my collection and I have been slowly going through them. Prior to this I had my collection ripped to the highest quality MP3 that you can achieve. I am blown away at the improved quality of the FLAC files when listening through a high quality system or wired headphones.

My Jukebox is a converted AMI/ROWE CD100 playing through Polk Audio speakers. The amp is crazy good and so is the sound quality so i would like to take advantage of this and run FLAC.

HI Cary, Got It!

This WAS the issue. I had the Use ALBUM ARTIST TAG checked and when I un-checked it, life is good. I have always used this on my MP3 files with no issues so I didnt think that would be the issue but it was.

Thank you for your input.

Glad you got it sorted out.  I also used to use high quality mp3, but have since changed over to FLAC  I am about 75% of the way through reconverting all my CD's and am being extremely anal about making sure they are 100% accurate.   I, unfortunatley have around 3000 CD's and so far about 100 of them have a problem track or two that just won't copy correctly. Luckily DBPoweramp does a good job retrying a CD till it gets it right.  Most of the CD's with bad tracks I will probably copy again, and if I can't get a perfect copy, will mark it to replace if I see the CD in a used CD store.  Or borrow a copy from a friend if anyone I know has a copy.

I'll be glad when I'm finally finished copying all of them, and can finally just enjoy listening to them.  I run them through a DENON reciever and Klipsch reference speakers.  And your right, the sound quality difference from MP3's is amazing.

I know what you mean about being extremely anal about getting a perfect copy, I am the same way.
One thing that I have learned when I run into a bad CD or track is, I have a second CD drive that runs slower then my main drive and if you can rip the trouble CD at a slower spin rate, it helps most of the time.

Thanks, I have that covered also.  I have a Tower computer built that has 6 CD drives in it.  I can open 6 instances of ripper and rip 6 CDs at one time.  I have one drive that seems to do the best at older/bad cd's.  I always re-rip with that one.  So far, so good.  Just, as I said, tedious.
