so whats the best remote/remap software ???

Barcrest

You need one that sends keypresses which i think most can do. The wi-fi ones work best as you don't need line of site.

When you say wi-fi, do you mean they attach to your wireless network?

I had a lot of experience with remotes 5 or  years ago but this is a cool concept I was unaware of.

Wi-Fi in that they use radio waves as opposed to ir so they work through walls.

im going to use a targus wireless remote which is a plug and play for wmp so the vol and mute are allready default to windows use but not forward and pause.

its a very basic type not a mce type with a load of buttons on it that will never get used
so its just right for the job

Hmm i saw maplins were selling a targus one with a built in laser pointer.

Somewhere I have one of those. It is called a "wireless presenter", I will try to find it and see what it is like to use. It was brought to use with some other music software, but that needed the scroll button. It was possible to do this, but it was just too awkward. So I gave up on the idea.

Still using the firefly remote and it is working wonderfully.
