Hey new guy here with a couple of questions before buying the software as i really like it but im not sure whats wrong with it. I  have a friend of mine wich had this cool jukebox pc and he sold it to me, it had etouch 5 on it with some very old music. I decided to update it to the latest with some more music as well, but  things are not working out nice. First , when the computer was running etouch 5 it would load all the cds just fine and fast , no lag, but after updating it, it has this bit of a lag on some cds and sometimes it even would stop working at all, like if you choose a cd and then it takes a bit to load so if you click again windows would shutdown the software (etouch). So i uninstalled it and then installed 5 again and that  lag issue never happens with version 5. I even installed windows 7 from scratch, clean instalation with just drivers, v10 demo wont just work as 5 does. I installed version 5 after 10 and all is smooth. I would like to take advantage of version 10 but im afraid it wont just make the cut. and version 5 does not have those awsome skins and new features.
So question 1, its there a refund in case v10 wont work at all for me?
#2 Any ideas why v10 lags so much, and shuts down?
My pc specs are an intel i3 with 4gb rams, i installed etouch to c:\ , not program files, and with admin rights. also run it with admin rights, thank you for any help.

Firstly it is hard to read when you have all your text bunched up.

1) I would imagine no to the refund as there is a demo version available that is not feature limited only time limited, so you get the full software. I am only guessing on this one, but Barry would have the final say.

2) I would look at your hard drive, it sounds as if you brought it a long time back, and your hard drive might be on it's way out.

3) If you are lifetime subscriber, then you can access all the previous versions

Coffee time, as just woke up.

Another space, which makes this a bit easier to read.

Mark

P.S Your font is kind of small as well forget the font, it is normal, just looked smaller all bunched together and having just woken up.

I dont think it has nothing to do with the hardrive, as i said ,v5 works just right, windows works nice too, is just v10 that has that little lag, especialy on cds with lots of videos o songs.

Mark Norville

OK firstly, I cannot comment on CDs, I cannot see why you are using a CD for, when hard drives are the best storage medium.

The age of the hard drive that you are using does matter, you come down to wear and tear and any hard drive over three years of age, have a high chance of failing at one point or other.

I recently had a 1.5tb hard drive fail, lucky for me, windows warned me before it went all together, and I learnt my lesson from the last time, and made sure that I got my data off very quick.

The price of the software is dirt cheap to be honest, however, as I was once a buyer, I can appreciate any nagging doubts etc. I wanted this software for years, I really wanted to love it, I just could not get on with it, I think I waited about two or three years before I handed my money over.

I saw version 9 have some really annoying bugs, these got fixed majority of the times very quick. I cannot comment on version 10, but I would say that still some bugs that need ironing out.

I can hand on heart say, that if you can afford it, and want to stick with it, this is the best program on the market which is cheap, and useable.

Is it perfect? No, however, I have brought and tried everything and I mean everything on the market, this is the best what you will get for the price.

My name and word is my bond, if my Nan and Grandad were alive today, I would recomend this to them, if they wanted to buy something like this.

It is the most customised jukebox you can have, if you can do graphics and stuff.

I am going to try and get back to sleep, sleeping tablet not kicked in yet, and was awaken by a scam phone call this morning.

It is probably some option enabled that didn't exist in V5 that your machine does like. Where is it freezing? Make sure you have the animations turned off and that you are running the exe's as admin. Right click properties and under compatibility select run as administrator.

Turn off random play at first it is more comprehensive than earlier versions and needs a little bit of set up. If you just turn it on with do not repeat set too high for song or artist and there are not enough songs selected to pick from this can cause it to hang also.

V10 is probably the fastest version there has been so I am sure it is to do with an option you have set.

If you can detail what you are doing from start up to when it hang we might be able to work out what is going on.

The beta seems to only work with windows 7 for me, I have had no luck with windows 10 or 8. This is a different issue that stopped the demo working and is to do with google blocking the search results.

ok heres an update, ive been pulling my hair out has i cant seem to find the problem. Long story short, etouch v5 works fast on any OS 7x86,7x64, windows 10x64, but demo v10 still has that lag that if you select an album (ill stop calling them cds) it takes a second or 2 sometimes 3 or 4 to load the album, same enviroments, same music colletion same hardware. on v10 i made sure there where no options selected, no animations, no dj, no online, no random, no nothing, just plain jukebox and still have the same problem. I did my testing by clean installing my os, then drivers then etouch v5 all seemed fine, then again clean install reformating the drive and all, drivers, etouch 10 and boom lag on v10, at this point i really dont know what to do. Its there a file or something i can sent you so you can check to see whats wrong? thanks for your time.

How many tracks do you have on these albums? I think I know what is happening.

On older versions only the tag info for the albums shown was read and then when you paged down the tracklist the next were read in. Now it reads them all first, if you have a lot of tracks on an album. Say 100 it will take longer to bring up the list.

If you only have say 20 tracks then it shouldn't really make a difference.

Do you have any online features turned on?

No no online features turned on, it must to be that, some most albums are normal but there are lots of compilation albums as well so that must be the problem. So unless you willing to do something about it, il have to pass and stay with v5 an regular skins, its a shame. Any particular reason you made the change on how etouch reads the tracks? can you make a lite v10 version that reads them the old way? thanks again.

Mark Norville

You have no need to do a lite version of etouch, simply because it works, with a little bit of getting used to.

We all have very similar albums as to what you have in your collection, and we have no problems with compliations etc.

The only thing that I would say, is using MP3 is far safer than using any other file format.

The reason why the scraping of albums was  changed for, was to cater for m4a and other trickier tagging systems.

You just need to make sure that your tagging is correct.

How many tracks do you have in your compilations that are giving you this lag?

Is your library on a local drive or are you accessing it across a network? Lan cable tends to be ok wifi is terrible.

For most people with albums not totaling more than say 50 tracks the delay wasn't noticeable and then paging through the album is instant this is why the change was made. Rather than have the lag paging in the album listing. It also helps behind the scenes with some other things like random play and the hot icon.

My library its on theharddrive and i really doubt i have what you guys have as mark says, all the music its properly tagged and i really dont have the mood neither think it would look good to have my compilations separated on 20 tracks albums, so ill guess ill just stay with v5 for now and look for something ealse, my friend told me he stoped using etouch due to the lack of good customer service, as getting help from you guys its pretty much "deal with it" instead of looking for a real solution, that can fit everyone out there. Thanks anyway, thanks for your time, wish you guys the best.

Mark Norville

Firstly the help is here, I was not around for version 5, but things have changed a lot since I have been here since version 7, even though I had tried the program before, and could not get on with it, but in the end I brought it.

Secondly, what Barry is trying to say is that, to give an example

Now That's What I Call Music 98 35 tracks is acceptable

My compliaton 200 tracks is not acceptable, it will struggle

The latest etouch has come along way since version 5, as I say I brought version 9, which had a lot of bugs, but the bugs were then mainly fixed.

As take that sung, a little patience. If you have had your hard drive in that PC for years, a fresh install and possibly a SSD hard drive would be the way to go.

Nobody has said deal with it so not sure where you got that from. Without working out what the issue is there isn't a way of fixing it, which is what I thought we were trying to do.

Help on some of the sites really is non existent. If you are lucky and it works out the box happy days, if not then obviously issues need to be resolved.

Unfortunately even the might of a company like Microsoft can't make some thing that works for every configuration and I think they have much larger programming teams than just one guy.
